Griot's garage polisher kit?
Is anyone familar with Griot's garage car cleaners or has used them is it worth the money to buy the polisher with the kit, i really need a good polisher and wax kit and i was researching and found this to be the best kit to buy for a starter for the money. my car needs polishing ASAP.
BTW does anybody know the cheapest place to buy the kit besides ebay thanks |

That's what I did anyway. There's more choice by going with professional detailing gear, than Griots (and I used to be a huge Griots zealot). Griots tries to sell a "one size fits all" series of products.. where different cars have different finish characteristics (hardness, depth, etc), you can get products that work with your car.. or make it easier to get the finish you want. |

Griots Porter Cable orbital
I got mine direct thru Griots. Their products are good. I have undercarriage spray and paint cleaning clay. These products are some of my go-to products.
I've yet to use the buffer, but I let my dad use it on his M3 and the results were great. It's definately a good buffer.

I have read good things about the Griot's polisher on autogeek.net (and in the autogeek forum). They sell both that polisher and the Porter cable as well as lots of supplies so you can compare the price to Griot's website.
I got a polisher last spring and I got the Porter cable from detailedimage.com as well as a load of supplies. I emailed greg with the cars I would be maintaining and he had some great recommendations. He sent me a detailed email telling me about several products and pads that he had used on BMW jet black paint and also included some good advice. The price was very good and I am VERY happy with my polisher. The purchse of a polisher and good quality detailing supplies is money well spent. |

I think it's a good starter package. I had the griot's polisher prior to my Flex and it was a nice machine (although the Flex is much more powerful, it's more of an "intermediate" machine).
The smaller buffer looks interesting to me, I could really use one of those for the tight spaces.

I have the larger orbital buffer. Works fine. Their products are made to be idiot proof so I think they may take a bit more work to use but they will also have no chance of hurting your paint.
I rely on their Speed Shine. Great product. Use it all the time to touch up the car between washes when all it needs is a bit of a shine. |

I have the polisher and I wish i had a direct drive instead of a random orbital. It takes too damn long and the polish doesn't cut into the deeper swirl marks on BMW's hard paint unless you break your back doing multiple trips over each panel. Even though the thing is idiot proof, most people here are capable enough to use a direct drive without burning paint.
