As far as I know (can't remember source), there will be an Z4 with V8 in 2009!
Companies like Hartge - Germany, already build Z4's with 5 Ltr V8. It has 400 hp and a torque of 500 NM . Also Hamann has a very fast version. However, I've red that it is hard to handle. I'am convinced that BMW will build an V8-Z4 that will performe greatly and that it can be handled by any driver with a little (fast car) experience. They very well know what they are doing! |

Agreed, if BMW follows its general pattern, it will put the engine into the Z4 after it debuts and is exclusive on the M3 for a year.

I am sure the v8 will go in there. the z4 isn't a tiny small little car, it does weigh only a tick over 3000lbs but who says a v8 shouldn't go in there?
I have two neighbors with a Gallardo and a z4. they park next to eachother and are about the same size (and weight probably). The gallardo has like a v10 or something . I see no problems with putting a v8 in the z4, except it might be faster than the m5, which BMW wouldn't want. Of course, the gallardo is crazy and designed for 500hp - much different than the z4. All i am saying is the size and weight of the z4 is no reason to restrict a v8. the z4 is the same size as the z8 i bet. |
