Ugh.. TPMS Malfunction
My TPMS light went off this morning and the first thing I was thinking, "CRAP! Dyno day is tomorrow and I have a flat tire!"
...but it wasn't for tire pressure. I got a message the the TPMS system had malfunctioned. I couldn't reset it on the display, but held the TPMS console button to force a reset. No luck, it's stuck resetting.. anyone else have this issue before? I have the OEM 18" rims with Advan AD08's that are over a month old. I did get the DCT 2.39.0 update 4 days prior but wouldn't think that it would be related.. Anyways, it looks like i'll be bringing it in Monday. |

Did you reset the TPMS sensor when you installed the wheels? I had the same problem and it kept saying resetting. I drove the car while still in reset mode and it went away eventually.

And??? You don't have the 'TPMS' light on the dash, only the tire symbol, so your system should be fine after the reset is finalized. Seems like one of those electrical gremlins to me (I've had a few myself only once so far). Drive the car for the required 10 to 12 miles and the system should go back to normal. If not, I'd try disconnecting the battery and try again before taking the car in. If it happens again, then you have no choice. Good luck.

maybe a silly question, but you did drive a bit after you hit the reset button correct? the tpm's and system doesn't reset until you've driven a few minutes (mile or 2)..

I didn't reset it when the new tires were put on, I didn't know I had to. I guess I should have RTFM..
the manual says: "Each time a tire inflation pressure has been corrected or a wheel or tire has been changed, reset the system." I drove about for about 10 minutes (<4 miles), but shut the car off in between for gas and atm. I'll be driving a bit more in the morning so hopefully that fixes it.. ... and I the first thing I did was check the pressures. Last edited by m3soupy; 10-02-2010 at 01:21 AM.. |

Good to check pressures first, but yes, the driving has to be continuous for the re-set to complete. Hold the reset, drive for ~15mins or so, and you should be good.
