This has been discussed a few times before and there really has been no strong concensus either way.
The "pay it" crowd state that the ticket may catch up with you when you visit Germany next and try to rent a car, or possibly even when your passport gets scanned at entry. Who really knows for sure... The "don't pay it" crowd are correct is stating that there really is no reciprocity associated with the ticket and it will not catch up with you in the US. It is a German ticket and they were kind enough to provide you with the international bank routing infromation. Most any bank can send the correct amount to the accout, referencing the ticket information and get it cleared up. Good luck with it either way.

Doubt it.
Germany almost exclusively uses cameras for speeding tickets. The tickets do arrive in the mail with a bank deposit slip. They used to even have a picture of you behind the wheel! But now, I think they only provide that if you challenge one and the fine is more if you lose. Personally, when I was in Germany, I thought it was pretty darn handy. Just run by the bank...transfer the fine...done. The drawback was...the cameras stay up, normally for a few days...until people get wise to them...so if you were like me...and drove the same route every day...and sped every day...every day for like 4 days you'd get a ticket in the mail. LMFAO. OP: If you're going back...why risk it a potential problem? 45 euros isn't very significant.

You could try Google Translate to help figure out what the ticket states.
Also, if you're concerned enough, it's probably worth paying it, just for the peace of mind. Good luck making the right decision. Graeme |
