Am I getting ripped off?
I'm seriously considering buying this car, but I've seen similar equipped M3's (not CPO'd) for under $40k. How much could I negotiate?
2008 M3 Coupe (CPO) Premium, Cold Weather, & Technology Pkg Space Gray/Fox Red Extended Lthr 44,600mi $43,500 Thanks for any input! Last edited by ac3; 12-25-2010 at 06:18 PM.. |

I don't see it as "way too much". Perhaps because the markup in Miami for the m3's are noticeable. But when I went to a local dealer when I thought used was the way to go, they offered me a 2008 coupe with 19's and dct only...26k miles for 52,500. Now that is way too much, even for Miami.
Try and offer 40k and go up to 42k if you're comfortable |

I don't think I'd be a happy camper paying any more than 40 for it. It would have to be in near flawless condition too. That's a shit ton of miles for an 08 IMO...warranty would be dead soon

I would not pay more then 40K at most. The mileage is on the high side for a two year old car. The car is about to run out of factory free maintenance which means money coming out of your pocket. I have seen that car being advertised on auto trader for some time now.

that's a lot of miles for a 2/3 yr old car. you could probably negotiate a better price although there are many factors involved and we just don't know enough of the situation. I sold my '05 for just under $30k last month. I know it's apples and oranges, but still.

Manheim is surprisingly showing those cars trading in the low 40's. That price does seem high, but to be fair the CPO 'punch' is expensive for the M3's, plus if they had to put new rubber on it.
I think you should give them the opportunity to be straight up with you and show you the costs they've incurred on the car. Assuming you're a reasonable person and not expecting to get the car for free (ie let them make some profit), then yall can be straight forward with each other and see if a deal can be made. Hope this helps!
