How does adding Akrapovic GT4 and/or Evo "X-Pipe" affect the slip-on sound.
I have slip-on installed now. I am considering adding Akrapovic X-Pipe, either the GT4 or the Evolution one. Before I do that I like better understand the expected sound - tone and volume change I should expect.
So far I find the Akrapovic slip-on nice and relatively quiet overall, but just a bit too deep / boomy at low RPMs 1,500 to 2,500 broadly speaking. (Exhaust is BRAND new, I know the sound will change a bit over time and today seemed a bit different already. It has also been FREEZING here. So do not read in too much into the sound comments, but please help me understand what I can expect from adding the front pipes.) But if I could change the sound, I would like to change the tone to be higher at low RPMs and then louder at 5,000 and above. Do I get there with the full exhaust? GT4 or Evolution? Tomasz

Tomasz,
We have the Akrapovic Evolution X-pipe available and that will give you a nice aggressive note when added to your Slip-On. The GT4 X-pipe will make your car aggressive but also very loud, I recommend you listening to one in person if possible, as it may be unbearable for daily driving. |

If you think the slip on is too loud, changing out your x pipe is not going to help.
Drive the car for a few weeks and let it break in and see if you get used to it. I found the slip on too quiet. |

Just drove home. It was pretty good. Low bassiness was gone, and when I floored it - sounded sweet. Maybe we should not be allowed to make comments on exhausts till they are broken in. Hmm...

The Akra Evo is also a bassy system up to say 2500-3000 RPM but it gets higher pitched after that. I have never heard the slip-on in person so I can't comment on the difference between the two.
I'd say to go with the X-pipe, you won't be dissapointed, it has a nice and civilized sound until you get on the throttle. The gains are real nice too!!!! You will definitely feel the additional pull from 3000RPM on up!!! |

Akrapovic systems with the GT4 X-pipe are a bit on the loud side, but sound menacing on the street.

Gt-4 has a real nice kick to it. My Evo did not sound as aggressive as I wanted it to be ( in my opinion). I'm going to say get the Akra gt-4, sounds great when you want it and loud when you need a live symphony, and harmonies when you are gentle with the throttle.
I must say, after I installed my voltage stabilizer, I have felt increase in torque, smoother ride, lesser drone, and a more tolerated sound coming from the exhaust. I'll post some videos in my other thread, will post link to my thread here when I get the chance to record. |

My voltage is normal, stays around 13.9-14.2
But with the stabilizer I'm at 15.9-16.1. Makes a hell of a difference in my opinion. I also have the AA pulley and what not. |

Good question, never got the chance to do so, well I got the mods really early on when I owned the car ( back in January 08 ).

My brother was in Asia shopping parts for his car, he decided to pick Denup voltage stabilizer for my car. Car feels real torquey after the installation. May just be a mind thing though =)
