Akrapovic and emissions

I highly doubt the full Akrapovic Evolution would pass emissions but how about Akarpovic slip-on? And is slip-on even worth it?

Slip-on passes emissions without a problem.
Many have praised the quality, sound, and gain. The sound and looks are what people are after in an slip on exhaust.

The Akrapovic Evo system replaces the OEM cats with 100cpsi versions, as the OEM versions are restrictive.

Going with the Slip-On version (ie: catback) retains the factory catalytic converters and will not affect emissions.

Akrapovic does offer a race version (same as used on the GT4) which eliminates the catalytic converters and resonators on the X-Pipe.

However, the X-Pipe used on the Evolution systems is equipped with the 100cpsi catalytic converters and resonators.

I had mine tested on UK emissions with the full evo system. It passed without a problem.

not passing emissions would steer me away from getting the full system.

24hp vs 3ps(?), 35Nm vs 4Nm

I guess slip-on isn't so worth it unless looks and sound are a priority.

So if all you install is the Akrapovic Evo system with 100cpsi cats, will it still cause a CEL? Since the Cats are shifted further back I suspect the CEL will get triggered? Please note that I want to know if the CEL comes on WITHOUT having to install the Akrapovic CEL Delete. Thanks.

Yes with the full EVO system a CEL does come on your dash, you have
to get the CEL Delete along with the exhaust.

which in most states will still fail an emissions test.

I think the slip-on is worth it. It's a nice improvement in sound over OEM

^ I disagree, but everyone has different ears. I am not discounting other people's opinions, I'm just saying that in mine, I didn't hear enough difference, especially not over $3000 worth of difference. I even thought some other exhausts sound better, like the AA, the Corsa, etc.

The problem that the catted Evo system will have, even with proper software that lets the readiness tests complete, is that the cats are so far downstream that you'd have to get them real hot before they'd even have a chance of passing. This means redlining the car for some time before pulling directly into the smog shop...

It was funny, my supercharged e36 M3 would fail smog if I didn't beat on it, then if I did, it would pass with flying colors.

Awesome news! Has anyone in Canada passed the sniff test with a full evo system?

If I had to do it again.... (the 9th time). I'd just buy an Eisnmann Sport and be done with it. I think the tone is better than the Akra.

Is Eisnmann Sport only a sound upgrade? Or is there some HP and torque gain as well?

I totally agree with you.

When I order my exhaust it will be the Slip-On.

More expensive than Akra slip on, unless you shop around and get lucky. However I can definitely say it sounds better.
