The only way to get rid of the CEL without a tune is the Akrapovic Delete-R. All other methods of stopping the CEL like O2 sims and Lambda adaptors don't work for the M3.
I'd suggest the Dinan Racing Middle Exhaust Software if you are concerned about warranty. Many BMW dealers are Dinan dealers and they can flash your car at your next warranty/service appointment. I had my car flashed with the Dinan software before even taking delivery of it since I had an Akrapovic Evolution exhaust waiting at home for the car. |

I have a Powerchip stage I tune (it does NOT remove the CEL). I have Fabspeed high flow cats and Fabspeed O2 extenders. The car has been driven through all load levels and temperature conditions for over 6K miles and no CEL.
I think those little O2 extenders do work. However, these are for my HFCs. I don't know if they will work for a totally catless system. Probably not.

I'm curious, will adding an exhaust (gintani for exammple) trigger a CEL? Or is it only when you go catless?
Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting an exhaust but I don't want the CEL.

Getting just a rear section exhaust will not affect anything. In fact, even removing the secondary catalytic converters won't do anything either. Only your 2 primary cats will affect emmisions if you modify/remove them.

SS fullcatless system, using Acra delete-r with O2 sensor extenders, no cel.
