Z4MC... funny looking?

So I was at a market today and as I approach the cashier, I overhear her asking her colleague... "Chris, what's that funny looking car out there?" I don't know why, but I'm guessing she's referring to my car. I ask her if she's talking about the silver car and she says yes. I say it's mine and had to explain it's a BMW Z4 M Coupe, blah, blah, blah. Her comment was... "it's long with a bubble on top."

In the past, I've had people comment that it's sexy, cool, slick, sick.. but never funny looking. I wasn't offended but rather amused.

Supermarket cashiers. I go to the same market regularly. The cashier that waits on me has been there for years and is a smoker, so he's often outside when I pull up. He's seen me drive up in a 1966 Rolls-Royce, 3 Porsches, 2 BMW Z4 (my old roadster, the M Coupe), a BMW 325i and a Pontiac Solstice GXP, all without comment. Then one day, as I'm checking out he looks out the window and says "Hey, cool car."

Yep, I was driving a refrigerator white Smart Fortwo.

My brother was recently working as a valet at a very expensive restaurant in seattle and owns a mint green (evergreen) Z3 M coupe. It just happened to be parked out front that night. So anyways he is just hanging out and a couple stroll out of the restaurant and are making small talk with him while waiting for another valet to bring their vehicle. Of course they see the M coupe out front and the lady just comments to my brother, "That is the ugliest car I have ever seen in my life."....so of course he says, "Uhhhhhh yeahhhhh that's my car haha." her: "oh...... sorry."

Thats great haha I love that non-enthusiasts hate the 1st gen M coupe. Makes me want to get one

The Z3M.. If BMW makes that shape - or something very close again, I would buy it. I think the Z3M coupe looks GREAT!

I wouldn't say that - like a bulldog or Pug, it's ugly but with character.

Remember how SETI had that deal where you could run a program on your computer to give them spare CPU time to search for alien life? My brain has a similar passive search program running, looking for an original black Z3 coupe (not the M) with manual.

I would agree that our car does look funny / weird from certain angles. The back sort of just cuts off. I guess some people wouldn't care for that look because the shooting brake design is pretty rare and they arn't exposed to it as much.
