Is the weight reduction of a titanium exhaust noticeable?

In anticipation of my car arriving, I've been strategically planning my mods. Given that I'm ordering an E93, I think weight reduction is a good place to start. In particular, it seems that the exhaust system is where a large chunk of pounds can be shed.
But before I start researching different exhaust and pricing options, can the loss in weight from a light titanium exhaust like Akra, Vanguard, etc be felt in a handling perspective? I know I'll be making more power, but does the car actually feel lighter and more nimble? I'd like to hear some opinions on this.

If you do a full titanium exhaust I'm pretty sure you'll see some small gains on a dyno compared to a full SS system.

I'm no expert in this but lets say you have titanium exhaust, stripped interior, one performance seat etc....I know it takes alot of work to do but i know you'll gain some of it. And all the above contributes a bit.

Changing to titanium must make some different, maybe not numbers worth mentioning but if id didnt do shit why would people still buy it?

Do you notice the difference between when you have a full tank and 3/4 a tank full of gas? That's what the difference would be about. About 4 gallons of gas weights about 24 pounds. What you might feel is the extra power made available from the exhaust though.

Exactly how does the weight of an exhaust system impact dyno numbers ?

Interesting, so it sounds like there isn't much to be felt in weight savings? I thought the full Akra Evo system saves 50+ lbs? If I apply the theory above, that's 8 gallons or about half a tank less in weight. I think that is a noticeable difference?

I remember in my 335i, when I changed my hood to CF and changed to lighter rims, I definitely felt the weight savings

You'll buy this exhaust not so much based on the weight savings, though it is an added benefit. You'll buy the system because
A.) It's complete, beautifully designed, and fits like a glove
B.) It's louder than stock, but not loud enough to drive you crazy everyday
C.) It's a titanium system and it does weigh considerably less than stock,
D.) Ideal for someone that wants to do the exhaust mod once and only once
E.) And finally there's a little added horsepower gain
Atleast that's why I purchased this system and I have no itention of changing it. I'm very pleased with it.

I agree, the Akra truly is the best out there. It's the best of everything in one package. i just can't stomach the price.

Anyone want to sell me a used Evo system??

Not by itself since it is rather low in the car. But I'm sure you'll notice if you combine the weigh savings from the exhaust with another 100-150 lbs.

I definitely notice when I take my 80lb sub box out of the trunk of my 330.

It's all a piece of the bigger picture to get more performance. It may only be 24lbs on the exhaust, but get our light weight battery, there is another 25+ lbs shaved, get some lightweight wheels (you will definitely notice this for the better because your rotational mass is reduced), take it further with some CF bits and you'll have a car that will feel much more nimble.

If the car is full street then honestly I would not worry about the weight saving as much, just look at it as an added bonus.

The akrapovic system is a great unit, and I wouldn't compare it with other systems based solely on weight.

Close, but not so black and white.

For instance, e46M3s see a significant increase in handling when the sunroof was removed in favor of the CSL roof (55lbs at the upmost part of the vehicle = leverage)

Any weight shaved is typically seen as a good thing - even below the center belt of the M3 where the exhaust lies.

Sure, but op bought the heaviest m3 options available and wants to know if he can pay 6k to save significant weight. It is not going to matter. Just enjoy the ride.

When the box arrives and your carrying it around you'll notice a huge difference....After you install it....not so much. It's a beautiful piece of work though.
