Pictures and Video from 2011 DC Auto Show, Z4M and 1M included
There was a 2008 Z4M at the 2011 DC Auto Show. People were oggling it like it was a new car.
The new 1M made an appearance as well. Video of the 1M. So hot. The Cadillac ULC (urban luxury concept) was pretty hot too. The Chevy Volt really does look like a normal car. Except the extra gas tank looking lid in front of the driver's side door. The Ford Vertrek looks like a standard crossover, with some interesting technogizmos. Instead of side view mirrors, it has cameras. Instead of headlights, it has oddly shaped wave guides that I assume disperse LED generated lights. |

Wondering what the reasoning was for the Z4M being there? Are they gauging interest for a another Z4M???

I love the look of the 1M. But I have to admit I liked it in pictures, even before seeing it in person. I'm not sure what everyone's gripe is about. Its a small car with lots of power, huge brakes and perfectly useable interior. I already told my wife that if I absolutely must have a four passenger car, I'll be after a 1M.

It's interesting - of all the models available that could be used to showcase the CPO program, they chose the Z4MR. If BMWNA is toting around the same '08 Z4MR with the 1M to the shows, maybe there is more to this than meets they eye. Z4Ms are certainly not too common as used cars but when they do show up, the same demographic they are pegging with the 1M might also be interested in a CPO Z4M. The BMW philosophy behind the two cars is rather similar and price points wouldn't be too terribly different either. If it's BMW NA behind it, my guess, they thought this one through. BMW marketing at work.
As for the 1M, it'll grow on me. What's getting me now are the shots from the front, camera centered on the car and at about eye level aiming down - very reminiscent of the M3 GTRs with the fenders and wide look. Can you imagine this car with the 4.0L V8! Someone will do it....

Stopped by the DC car show today and I saw that used 2008 Z4M roadster displayed with the new BMW's. The signage was promoting Certified Used BMW progroam. They estimated the certified 2008 with a range $37,000 to $41,000. Seemed a little high to me. Did not see what the mileage was since there were a bunch of kids where climbing all over it--I simply could not watch.
