Z4 Intake M vs. non-M
Hey guys, what're the major differences between the non-M Z4 intake and the M version? Is it just the hose/coupling diameter sizes?
My friend, who owns Highline Tuning is looking into producing an intake for Z4's, and he was asking me if the Z4M was the same. Thanks in advance for the help! |

I'm not so sure that'll be a viable project.
The M has 6 throttle bodies....the S.I. only one...hence the bigger gas mileage in the S.I.'s. I don't even think the head intake ports are the same size/layout ? Are they guys ? Not to mention the S.I.'s have double vanos tuning due to their intake runner design. Did he mention his goals here ? |

Hmmm...I will pose these issues to him. All he told me was that he wanted to produce something. He threw some ideas such as putting a filter directly behind the kidney grill, where the RPI scoop typically goes. But that was just an idea for CAI. I immediately brought up the concern that what if there was water, etc. and he said if he does make something like that, water can be combatted by some sort of sock over the filter.
I also asked if he'd do a heat-shield if he were going to go through with such a design, and he said probably not, since there's not much room there, and the air won't be dramatically affected by the heated engine bay. So far only that idea he's thrown at me, so I'm not sure exactly what he's thinking |
