Diokaef - How do you like your 328xi? Looking at possibly picking up a 2008 as my winter vehicle.

It's really good, I have drove it over 20" of snow with no problem at all but I did got a slide to a inclined hill and I was stuck. as long as you are in a flat place with 20" snow or not it's a great car, going up frozen snowed hills not so much. The engine in sport mode is plenty for winter and really reasonable for sumer, the sedan does much better then the coupe in the snow. suspension is a must upgrade for winter or sumer the suspension that it come with it if you have the sport pkg is not good, but coilovers for it cost about a 1k or so, so with some coilovers I don't really even need snow tires for up to 20", more then that I use a set of snow tires.

You couldn't have said it better! I have not driven my car since late November but a couple weeknds ago during the snow storms I cranked up the heat in the garage and gave the car a weekend of love in the form of a detail. Being able to was the car inside the warm garage with the heat blasting and a bottle of wine was magical!

I think I'm going to run down to the garage and give my M a hug to make sure it knows that it hasn't been garaged because it did anything bad. Don't want any hard feelings. Only about ~1.5 months to go!
I will say, though, that driving my old Jeep during the blizzard we had in Chicago this week was an absolute blast.

Thanks for the feedback on the 328xi. You guys have convinced me to get one....likely not 'til the fall though. My wife has a 4wd Escape with snow tires and it has been awesome this winter. My first experience with 4wd and snows. What a difference. I was considering a smallish suv (X3, GLK, RDX), but I am more of a car guy. I agree that the runflats would have to go.

Spring is almost here. Autocross starts end of March on the east coast. If you live in... say... San Diego... just SHUT UP and agree with us anyway. Can't wait to get some heat in the tires again.

I feel your pain. We got 7" out of this last storm. I just called the storage folks and asked if I could reserve the garage for March. This winter may never end.
