Rpi story..

So after 4 hours of installing my RPi axel-back, I set off to explore the aural limits of 8k rpm. Long story short, I was pulled over by a townie for setting off 2 car alarms in a 1st gear pull. I was very polite and he returned the courtesy, albeit after he wrote me a ticket. oh well.. Still no regrets. Oh and for future rpi buyers, the exhaust is still usable for a dd, IMO. Cheers

Man that sucks! My RE Diablo seemed really loud at first, almost unbearable, but after a few weeks it settled in nicely. I still set off the warning chirp on a crappy old Hyundai in the garage every morning though. LOL

I'm going to wager that you've gone slightly deaf over those past few weeks...

And cool story, E. Sorry to hear about the ticket. When I finally get around to getting an exhaust, I've already got my heart set on the RPI. That is unless I can score a sweet deal on a used exhaust.

tek, if u're absolutely keen on the rpi's, i'm somewhat local (like 350 miles type local) and u can hear mine if u'd like. of course, tt'd involve driving some ways down to at least austin, or if not, san antonio. i'll be in antonio this weekend and austin the next, and then antonio again the following weekend

so far, i've not set off any car alarms at all, which is probably a good thing. ecc, are u city-driving ur rpi's on a daily basis? need to try a long distance highway cruise

46 in a 35!?!? Really?? I realize its more than 10 over but 35mph zones are tough, seems like he could have at least gone with the warning. Of course, it never helps when you have a near straight pipe exhaust. Anyway, have fun, glad you found the RPI you wanted!

Rpi exhaust rocks

Had my rpi pipes fitted now for about 3 mouths. Is loud as hell and puts a smile on my face every time I start it up and give it beans. It's a must have.

Shakib: No worries yeah definitely, that would be fun. shoot me a pm when it starts to get warmer and we’ll figure it out.

Nikki: haha thats great- must be satisfying to do that every morning lol

Tekmoe: yeah no biggie- pick up an rpi. i was hesitant at first, but I’m in butt-love now haha. btw, you have a sweet bike/roadster combo

r4gs: yeah city/town driving. taking my first long distance roadtrip today for a Valentines dinner. I’m probably going to leave the car in 5th most of the way. Still not looking forward to the drone lol

Dubbedown: Long Island, Where in Jersey are you?

Nate: Yeah the ticket was a little harsh, but i understand that he doesnt want people ripping through the town, being obnoxious. Yeah haha you can def see through the rpi- thanks, i love it

Carter: thats sick, how has the sound changed, if at all?

Villalona- take some vids, dude- I bet the car will end worlds, sound-wise.

samjam: valid point haha, but i meant in terms of overall loudness. If i didnt go WOT, the alarms wouldnt have gone off and i wouldnt have gotten a ticket. RPi or not, I should have been driving slower.

take some videos as well ecc, i'm still trying to accurately capture the rpi sound. going to be taking another slew of videos, this time on a nice patch of long straight, and using an iphone 4. i think it more closely captures the true sound of rpi's, but just gets distorted with the outrageous amounts of bass at low revs. oh, and i'm now sitting on 1500 miles with the rpi's, and i'm convinced the drone has everything to do with temperature! still pretty loud and definitely noticeable in-cabin, but the tone of the exhausts have matured from very bassy to lots of mid and high pitched tones now.

Yeah this exhaust is near-impossible to portray via youtube. Way too much bass for any non-pro camera to absorb.. i guess that means I'll have to borrow some camera equipment from the university

LOL you're probably right. My friend got in my car yesterday for the first time and his first comment was "OMG your exhaust is loud!" And this is coming from someone whose last car was a 90s trans am with no cats.

Thinking about the RPi GT Axle Back exhaust myself. Listed at $965 on the Race Precision website. Is that where you got yours from? How much was it installed? I'm at about 33K miles, still under warranty. Would you recommend waiting for the warranty to run out before modding the exhaust? Thanks!

buying direct from rpi is best, they ship same day once payment has been confirmed. u can use crfine88's awesome diy to install the rpi mufflers urself (very straightforward) to save a bit of coin (between $30 and $50 installed i'm guessing). it will not void ur warranty at all.
