z4m. no sport mode
Sorry on my droid can't search and its bugging me.
Bought my z4m 2 mo ago and until the last few nice days haven't really driven it hard. Its cpo but just out of bumper to bumper Tried sport and button lights but no change in throttle response. It definitely is more responsive than my previous z3m s54 and m3 at all times but not sure its quite as touchy as either of those cars were when activated. 1. Anyone experience something similar 2. Any way to check to see if its working 3. Think maybe its tuned? When I was looking at tunes or shark I was told that tuning really only does what sport mode does... Might have to find someone local to compare Thanks and sorry for not being able to search Joe

7900 is the stock RPM limit. After that, the fuel is cut. We're not allowed to bounce off the rev limiter like some other cars. My AA tuned ECU behaves like stock in this sense, but it definitely was more than just the equivalent of pushing the sport button lol.
And might I add that when I DO use the sport button, both my passenger(s) and I feel a difference in pulling power. Butt dyno ftw/ftl lol The only time I dyno'd sport mode vs. Non-sport mode was prior to my ECU tune unfortunately. And sport mode pulls always yielded slightly less power because I always did the sport runs right after a non-sport run. Probably heat-soak, since the numbers put down were consistent throughout three different gears that I tried (6 total pulls during that particular dyno session). |

Ya its always been a huge difference in the past. Rolling along hit the button and the car would snap to attention. This one nothing. Will try a battery reset I guess.

They did it to stop exactly what you're talking about (which is what I always did to my friends when they drove my m3 lol) when your just cruising along at constant throttle and the sport button is pushed and you get a sudden burst of speed. It was especially difficult to drive when someone would constantly press the button haha! Your car is fine it's just BMW fine tuning the sport button operation. Btw if you want to make sure it works have a friend drive and when they aren't paying attention at a stop light flip sport on and watch them rev the nuts off trying to get the car away from the line... Then just stare at them with a "WTF!!!! Dude" look.

Thanks. Just getting acclimated to the car and driving it a bit more and noticing more small things.

i hate sport mode... you need to be moving at least 30 to use it at all, and every time you go below, you have to turn it off! i would be fine with the sensitivity if it was more usable off the line!

lol naw, I agree with Jbs. I really don't like Sport mode. It is overly sensitive, to what is already a pretty darned sensitive throttle. On track, it upsets my car. It's a good thing I'm using decent rubber as protection (tires, not condoms ), otherwise Sport mode might actually make me spin out hah.
I'm sure I could get used to Sport mode as a daily driver, but I would rather keep things the way they are: non-sport most of the time, and Sport mode only when I wanna do burnouts Last edited by mfanatic325; 02-21-2011 at 01:22 PM.. |

got quite used to it on the m3s, esp without the cdv, just makes the car feel faster, though it isn't...
