Winter in the northeast

Hi everyone, I plan on storing my Z4 during the worst of winter, but I was just wondering for those who live in the Northeast (or snowy areas)...

How long through the year do you all drive your Z? Or...asked another way, how many months out of the year is your Z stored in the garage?

Mine's been in storage since December. I'll take it out next weekend. We don't get the snow here that the NE gets, but it gets damn cold and icy.

I got the Z4 in December. I bought a set of snow tires/wheel package. Plan on using it all year.

I used it through most of the winter but garaged it during and after snow storms until the roads cleared of ice and snow. The condition of roads here poses greater harm than the snow/ice IMO. They are generally in serious disrepair and 90%+ have uneven pavement, huge pot holes, etc.

With snow tires, one can drive this car year round. I leave it in the garage pretty much December through February (unless roads clear up and there is no salt or ice) and start taking it out in March.

the winter was hard for me....here in nyc public maintenance during the blizzard was aweful...the turcks would come by and blast salt rocks on the the cars...literally....i got a garage later on....its worth it

I lived in rochester ny for 5 yrs. I had a miata, and a porsche 944. winter is no problem driving in.

M&S tires are golden if the Z is your only car. It'll get you up hills in light (1 or 2 inches) snow.

Mine's been in the garage covered since December - I have no plans on taking it out till the roads get better, less sand and warmer so the top can come down

Mine was tucked away early in November. Plan is to take her out April 1st, so just under 5 months in storage.

My car went in storage on 19 November and will be back in my driveway at some point in April, whenever the weather gets decent.

As folks have noted, you can drive your Z4 in the winter if it is equipped with good snow tires (best to put on cheap steel rims too).

But if the Z4 is not your only car, and you will store it for the worst of the winter weather, why not let it stay there until spring? That way, you will avoid all that winter wear and tear that road salt etc will put on your little gem.

I drive my ///M year round in Northern Virgina. Snow tires and a hardtop make the car easily drivable in the winter.

i stll take mine out in the winter every once in a while whenever i get the itch but i am extra careful for potholes. but the car has not seen snow after its first 1.5yrs of ownership. the car definitely gets more use in summer but i think i put on a total of 8000 miles per year. i do another 20,000 on my daily for my commute.

Mine went into storage with our first snow storm in early December. I got sick of waiting and took it out of storage already but still only drive it when the roads are "clear" The road maintenance aaround me is pretty top notch, with almost no potholes at all.

Wow. My city is the exact opposite. Many streets here have so many potholes and poorly executed pavement patches that they look as if they have been subjected to aerial bombardment.

In NYC, car came out when we had like 60 degrees few weeks ago for a quick wash, there are too much potholes here, im still driving my acura. With the amount of snow we just had, I cant even get the car out.. I would say its garaged from dec - mid-march.
