Car cover
My roomate thinks im crazy that I cover my car during the week with a car cover even though it's parked inside the garage in the house. I just tell him when the weekend comes, I like to uncover her dust free for the weekend drives.
I think he thinks im afraid he might scratch my car coming home from work everyday with his laptop bags or something |

Its kind of annoying when you wash your car over the weekend and then the following weekend you take her out and you see all this dust on it. Our garage doors have these vent holes on them so i guess dust comes in thru there.

Then gun it out of the garage and all the dust should fly off. Do you use any polish/wax after each wash? That stuff will help a lot. In other news, I haven't washed my car since September (it has been in storage for winter) but now it is out and it is still too cold around here. I am itching to wash it and get her glow back on

I only use polish/wax once every 2 months or so. I will use the quick spray detailer that comes with a clay bar after 2 weeks of washing though to get some what of a light coat on it. The polish wax just takes up about 3 hours of my morning and sometimes im just too tired. I have not invested in a relaly good orbital machine yet so ive been applying and drying by hand.

California Duster. Perfect for what you are describing and they work great.
I would be weary of covering and uncovering that often as it could cause undue wear where the cover is tighter on the vehicle (if you have the OEM one like I do).

California duster will not scratch paint at all. Trust me on that one, I have used them long enough to deduct that much.
EDIT: I guess I assumed that you were not an idiot. Let me clarify with the legal subnotices. If you use it for DUST and not dirt or on a dirty car, it will not scratch your paint. It is not a substitute for washing your car but does an excellent job of dusting off a car that has only been garaged since the last wash.

^i've used both quik detailer and microfiber towels as well as the california duster, and the latter definitely does not cause swirls/scratches. in fact, direct contact with a microfiber towel, detailer and dust probably does cause swirls cos u're essentially wiping the dust particles 'into' the paint finish. not to mention, the california duster cuts down on my car washing cycle since dust is really the only issue in west texas, and this also means i touch my car's paint finish less often = less possibility of swirls/scratches etc.
a layer of polish and sealant goes a long way to helping the dust simply 'dust' off too. |
