I just got the AFE stage 2 for the N55. I cannot get the intake tubing into the OEM rubber boot. It is too big. I even tore the boot a little bit! Any ideas?

I just noticed that my instruction pamphlet says "model:335 E90/92/93". I have an E82! Is that why the tube doesn't fit?

New BMW's adapt to the intakes very well. They shouldn't be throwing any codes... Haven't seen any codes thrown with the InJen

Intakes for 135i and 335i should be universal..... The N55 share the exact same engine space in both chassis

I never heard or seen from the 1series forum or the E90s that an intake threw a code.. however I've been to multiple services with 3 different types of intakes and not an issue.. remember you dont have to worry unless you are going in for a issue and might relate back to the intake. If its normal service and maintanence dealerships don't really care.

I found the key to installation: the OEM rubber boot gets removed. The OEM tube goes into the AFE tube with the silicone insert.

I have been out of town. I drove it the day I installed it and it was ok. I drove it today briefly and got CEL. Then an engine symbol tha was half light and half dark! Then some other lights! It went into a severe limp mode! Stopped the car and tightned the band on the tube. It seemed to be loose. CEL still on but other lights out. I'll drive it to work tomorrow and hopefully will be ok. I did not have time to drive much today.

the light is gone! cool! I was hoping it would reset. But I always had a problem with the AFE on my e46 M3.

As far as a review goes, we really need a few separate back to back dyno comparisons to get a more accurate idea of actual results. It does seem to "sound" cooler! I had thought that this was totally enclosed and came with the scoops. I was mistaken about that. I am sure that the slipperly little connector between the AFE output tube and the OEM tube, will in itself, bring some results over the corrugated rubber boot. I am thinking that I could stick some heat insulating material on top of the unit to isolate the air more. Also thinking that the metal air box is going to absorb more heat from the engine bay than the oem plastic air box. I am thinking it should be heat wrapped.
