M3 Convertible ?
I know it's too early to expect any official information, but when do you guys think the convertible will be coming out? Does anyone know the dates of the e46 concept premiere, production coupe premiere, and then production convertible premiere. I'm pretty sure the e46 convertible was out the following model year but im not sure if it was a late model or early. Thanks in advance.

Rumour has it will have a carbon fibre retractable roof...............
Well see.........but my bet is it will easily be the most desirable convertible on the road when it hits.... I would plan on Spring/Summer of 08'............ Expect a price of 75k though with it loaded...... Still, that's far cheaper than an M6 cab............ |

75k is a bit too much and going into the territory of of the 5'ers. about 5-6k more over the e92 Ms. Sage already mentioned 61k MSRP (unofficial),
so just do the Math.

I'd guess-stimate the new M3 coupe will be in North American streets by early spring of 2008.
I'd be surprised if the cab will be available earlier than fall of next year. More likely very late 2008, early 2009. As for the price, I'd say the coupe version is about $95K CDN loaded with DSG. The convertible between $105-$110K CDN, which is equivalent to a loaded 6-series coupe here. |

Hello from Texas!
I asked Scott26 our reputable source this same question and here was his response: "The M3 cabrio will be shown sometime before the end of 2007. Both Coupe and Cabrio M3 according to latest data will arrive in the United States during Spring 2008" -marksch123 |

Had to go back to my old diaries and archives for this info: I have marketing and launch dates from 1983 onwards so...
The timeline from the E46 BMW M3 Concept to the CSL goes like this ... IAA Frankfurt 1999 - World Premiere BMW M3 Concept Car (E46) February 2000 - Press Release BMW M3 Coupe (Phoenix Yellow) Geneva 2000 - World premiere BMW M3 Coupe (Phoenix Yellow/ Carbon Black) November 2000 - Press Release BMW M3 Cabrio (Imola Red) NAIS December 2001 - World Premiere BMW M3 Cabrio. (Laguna Seca Blue) Geneva 2001 - European premiere BMW M3 Cabrio. (Imola Red / Carbon Black) IAA Frankfurt 2001 - World Premiere BMW M3 CSL Concept Car Geneva 2003 - World Premiere BMW M3 CSL (Silber Grau /Black Sapphire) We are looking at a November 07 launch for the M3 cabrio this could be either for Los Angeles in December or share World premiere of BMW X6 @ NAIS. |

Thanks P.S. one more thing if it is okay with you... When the car is given a world premiere... Does that count as the launch? i.e --> If the E92 M3 is debuted at Frankfurt... then the car is on the streets or is that when allocations officially begin? And after Frankfurt how long was it till offiical E46 M3 Launch? Thanks.. (yet again)

M would have to do a lot of work to bring back any semblance of 50/50 weight distribution on the cabrio. I think its a move too far into the marketing men's hands.

they can carbon fiber the cab's roof all day, the cab will still suffer a significant weight penalty for the rigidity reinforcements they will have to make, along with the roof retracting mechanism... not to mention the inevitable loss of chasis rigidity. sacrifices i'm personally not willing ot make on an M car.
