More i look into this exhaust the more I am impressed!...a bargain for the price....the sound is throaty and mean....even more so than the BMW Performance Exhaust...sounds meaner than the Eisenmann Race...if anything, this thing is very raw and loud, that would be my only concern.
Im very tempted to get this...the quality doesnt look too shabby to me either....like the 83mm tips also. Not sure why more people are not buying this exhaust for less than 2K. But agree that 18 extra HP is bs...but I dont believe any of the numbers I see claimed for any exhaust, I would get purely on sound and aesthetics. |

I remember the company was on here quite a bit promoting it just as it was coming out and claiming zero drone. Jet after some users came back with reports of some drone the company seemed to disappear off the forum. But the price is better than many other choices.

Not that I should talk, seeing as how I've bought many many exhausts. But $2000 for a rear section is reasonable?!?! I think somewhere around $700 of that is the M3 tax on top of the $300-400 BMW tax

It's tied for my favorite for looks with the BMW performance and is my favorite as a stand-alone catback for sound so far. The handmade in the USA B&B exhaust is just as nice though and makes the $2k price look kindof stupid, that one goes for under $1500 shipped and B&B has a much, much longer track record. There's probably a Hype-afornia/Westside tax in there too somewhere

I havent heard the B&B exhaust for 1500.00 though. Why did you get rid of this exhaust anyway??...the drone at 1800 rpm?? EDIT: just listened to the BB exhaust, dont like that tone at all...reminds me of Supersprint and Borla...has that flatulent buzzing sound... Last edited by mact3333; 04-25-2011 at 10:21 PM.. |

It's totally different sounding than the BMW performance exhaust. The performance exhaust is Iconel and lighter, plus it is completely stock sounding at low throttle openings. The AE is aggressive and bassy, the BMW performance is higher pitched.
Honestly, they sound nothing alike, unfortunately the cameras don't do a great job of capturing it. The main thing you are paying for with the Performance exhaust is a stock level of drone. The AE was not quiet around town and was a touch droney going up hills, etc. I found it too bassy and droney at low RPMs, although it was much less so than the Magnaflow. |

I heard the AE at EAS with a challenge xpipe. It's relatively loud with some drone. Fairly well made locally in Socal and the guys at AE are pretty responsive. Overall a nice solution if you like it moderate to loud. Not sure I would use a catless X-pipe with it but it's subjective.
Downside is $2000 for a niche exhaust that is no better or worse than some of the other 100 or so exhausts on the market for an M3. I'm personally tired of paying the BMW tax that tuners apply to pricing for parts for M3's. A good stainless rear section should cost no more than a grand. It only looks like a good deal when compared to the other overpriced exhausts we have to choose from. As stated earlier, their HP gains make me laugh so for me, it's a bit of a turn-off. Look at any straight through design like Akra or Dinan and they claim 3-6 HP. Exhausts don't magically make HP they reduce restriction so any straight through design is going to max out roughly the same.
