E92 M3 mods
Hi everyone. I love the site and you'll be seeing a lot of me.
I just wanted to know: it's obviously too early to start thinking about mods when the car hasn't even come out itself. I was just thinking though, what possible mods would there be - engine-wise. What can someone get out of the E46 M3 with mods for example? How much do these cost? I'm not so knowledgeable in this, so I would just like to know if anyone can shed some light on this matter. Thanks |

the list can go on
but since its an M to begin with, most of the parts on the car im assuming is top notch performance.... i guess u cud so some things like exhaust/intake for sound sake... i mean look at how many things u could do to the e46 m3 performance wise, probly gona be the same for e92m3, just give it some time after car is released, the longer u wait, the more products ull be able to see. i kick my self in the butt sometimes when i see new exhaust systems out for the e90 325/330.... cuz companies are releasing prodcuts even 1.5 yrs after release date, although i already had the best exhaust for the time, better products are always being released lol

Well, with a compression ratio of 12.0:1, we can pretty much count any heavy boosting out, unless ofcourse the engine is bored or something.
With a V8, you're definetely going to see some nice intake/exhaust work, maybe headers, but it just seems that the engineers over at the M division pretty much optimize it all nowadays. ECU mods are probably going to be the first thing you'll see, and now that the M3 is packing individual butterflies, some interesting work can be done with that. In my opinion, some serious money will probably have to be shelled out to really upgrade this engine, something like changing valve timing w/ camshafts. If I had to guesstimate, however, I'd say you'll be able to do intake/exhaust/ECU for about $5-6000, and if you're lucky, you'll throw on 20-40 horses. That's just a guess based on experience, time will tell. |

i see where ur going witht that the 3 main things...intake exhaust and ecu here are my guesses, and these are quality product mods (top o line) intake:10hp max .... companies like gruppe m full exhaust system (headers,downpipes,mufflers)- Headers: 15hp , Exhaust with pipes:5-10hp.... companies like SuperSprint or Eisenmann ECU:10-20hp???? .... variety of companies willl do this..... with all mods put together including ecu tune to all mods.... 30-50hp? (50 is pushn it)
