Better for me but not for my M :( just venting

I am relocating from NC to TX and very excited about my new job, area, etc but I just realized that TX requires the front licence plate......
I used to read the threads about front plate and feel sorry for all those owners who were torn between doing the legal thing and doing the right thing
I will soon join you guys..I haven't done my homework yet regarding best ways to hang the plates without causing perminant damage to the car.
I'm not even sure NOT hanging them is an option since I'll be using a toll Hwy on daily bases and cameras take a picture of your plate to bill you by the end of the month..

I've driven cars in Houston for over 30 years without a front plate and have never been stopped exclusively for that issue. I also use a tollway and it is not a problem since (at least in Houston) you are issued a sticker for the front windshield. Lastly, I like not having a front plate because it gives the cop the option of not giving you a moving violation when he stops you for "other" reasons.

Where are you moving to in Texas?

The toll cameras take a picture of your rear plate.

Do you have the OEM front bracket? I'm considering using that for the bottom screws, and double sided tape for the top/front. Alternately, I am considering this.

Sorry, Dam iphone app cut my response twice now. Moving to Dallas area. I'm very happy though that a BMW dealer is practically on every corner. Here in NC, I have 3 dealers at exactly the same distance from home, but in different directions 70 miles away that is.
It sounds from your responses guys that front license plates are not enforced much in TX. Tell you what, I'll assign $200 to those fines, if I go years to pay those $200 then it's cool but if I go through the $200 in a matter of a year, I'll have to bite the bullet and hang it.

May be dealing with this dilema myself soon.

Driving a red M3 is already enough of a police attractor, I've been on the fence about giving them any more incentive to pull me over.
Was looking at the tow hook alternatives, as I refuse to the the OEM mount. Seen the GoMiniGo and the RHO. They seem pretty similar in design and price. Does anybody know if one has advantages over another?

Just put it in, so you don't worry about any fine or ticket.

Get a toll tag for your car if you'll be using the toll roads that much. The toll rate for toll tag cars is always lower than the non tag users. The difference adds up pretty fast if you're a frequent user.

Oh and I've been running no front plates 9 years. Got pulled over once by a state trooper and was let go with a warning.

I have lived in Dallas for the last 13yrs and have not for a single day ever had a front plate mounted and I have never received a ticket. (knock on wood).. Classic BMW is great for service, I use Ron Williamson as my service advisor (so do my folks) and have never had a problem, guy is a really good communicator which for me at least is the most important aspect of a service guy. Good luck with your move and feel free to PM me if you need anything while you transition to the new area.

if i ever get pulled over, i will act all surprised that i don't have a front plate
and tell the officer i had removed it when i was washing the car
and i can screw it in while he waits
no fine, no ticket

why pay to play if you can win without paying
