Custom Spring rates and adjustable coilovers?
I have been reading this forum for quite a while and went on the master thread where everyone would show a picture of their cars with their set up and so forth... I notice that most everyone goes with the same "cookie cutter" setup nothing is really track impressive, I mean no offense but KW's are great but they are no Pensky or Motons... I am not trying to be rude or fuss but I am looking for a different kind of a set up. I want to be able to pick the spring rate (like a 450 F/700 R) I want along with several different setting dials on dampening and rebound.
What set up can provide me this? I want a stiff suspension with minimal body roll; for example my last Corvette had 650/850 Hpercoil springs on it and loved the way it rode, my latest 997 TT had Motons with 900/650 (R/F) springs on it with adjustable H&R sway bars and it was insane on the road and track... Any help or comments are much appreciate it. Again, I have a lot of respect for everyone's kit on here it is just that most cannot deliver the configuration that i am looking for. Thanks |

Look at ASTs, they're exactly what you're describing. Harold from HPA can get you custom (and linear) spring rates, they can be had in many configurations (single, double, and triple adjustable, inverted struts, helper springs, external reservoirs, etc.). Slightly more expensive than the KWs, but most would say well worth it for the track addict.
Plenty of people running these setups, never seen anyone unhappy with them. FYI - AST now owns Moton, if that's any indicator of their company goals and targeting.

That's great. I have been doing a little research and found the AST's. They seem pretty good. HPA? You have a link to their site? Thanks for the info.

AST's is just one of a few top notch coilovers that can be customized to your needs. Here is an photo of AST 4200 for 1M or M3 with custom Swift spring rates and lengths.

Not everyone does cookie cutter stuff...If you've been reading this forum "for quite a while" how did you miss options like the AST? And you haven't heard of HPA either?

I looked but not familiar with the forum enough yet. And NO to both of your unnecessary questions.

Your original post wasn't exactly positive - I would have done more searching before concluding that everyone does cookie cutter stuff that isn't track impressive.

Sorry you took it the wrong way, when you go with a setup out of the box that cannot be modified, it is called a "cookie cutter" setup... sorry but it is what it is. Did not in any way need to offend you or anyone bud.
