Specing the car

My dealer called to say i need to spec my car on Wed next week. Already i have moved up the queue. Hoping for latest March 08 including zsg!

Not specing to much. Silver, 19's, HUD, BT prep, sat nav, plus a few extras. I know there has been some speculation about no HUD but my dealer says there is no info to suggest that it is not available.

I will try to post full specs next week.

Apparently there isn't enough room for HUD in the 3 series so don't expect it.

Hi - I'm a "refugee" from bm3w.co.uk. This looks a great site. Are UK dealers taking spec's and orders now ? I too hope HUD and DSG is available soonest.

What do people think of taking a traditional manual new M3 and then switch over to DSG M3 in spring 08 in UK ? Mad idea or not ?

Thanks and greeeeat site !

The car can be specced in the UK on BMW's IVS system from next Tuesday (10th). For an idea of options there is a full German price list over on M5board

So, all of the info isn't even available and they want you to spec a March production car next week?

LOL. Ok.

I got deposits with 2 dealers. One has asked me 2 go in and spec my car. They have asked for more money too which i have stipulated that it needs to be refundable until they give me a build date. The other dealer has not contacted me yet.

So they are specing but not ordering in the sense where you get a build date.

The reason why BMW are not offering HUD is because the upcoming 7er replacement F01/F02 will use the next generation of HUD which will be connected to the next generation of i-drive with a ipod like scroller located on one of the spokes of the steering wheel.

So there's going to be a better HUD in the near future, but that makes us SOL HUD is an amazing feature wish we could have it now...

If you don't get the EDC, what mode will it come in? Will I always me in comforrt, normal, or sport? This was a great feature on my M5 and it really made a difference in acceleration and handling.

even though EDC is listed here as an option, I believe its has to be standard b/c of your exact question...how can you take something away like EDC from a car that is derived from racers...02

edit: Just read the spec brochure...EDC is an option...I guess it'll just be "Normal" not comfort or sport...

In that case it is a must add option at least if you are getting the carbon fiber roof (assuming you would get the CF roof for better performance). because there is a big difference between normal and sport.

I'm not sure 'bout the EDC. In my opinion it's not a performance feature, it's a comfort feature! Can anybody confirm or refute this?

Best regards, south

I will refute this as I used to own a E60 M5 for about 18 months. These setting are for comfort as well as for performance. There is a big difference in acceleration times when it is not in sport mode and it also handles better when in sport mode. There are videos of this as proof as well. And the difference is big enough where you notice it.
