bmw 1 m coupe allocations

To all those waiting for allocations of the 1 m coupe for military sales,
I recently (2 weeks ago) went to the dealership to purchase a 5 series and noticed the new 1 m coupe sitting on the showroom floor. After much debate, I decided to purchase the 1 M. Three days ago my SA called me and said that military sales would only be getting two allocations for the car. He was able to get one of those allocations for me

. We placed the order on the day I first went in and I gave him the down payment. I emailed a different dealer today to confirm the truth to the two allocations and the second dealer stated that military sales would only be getting two allocations for the year. Lucky me I guess. He also stated that the german dealerships are fighting to get this car.

you switched from a 5 series to a 1M? Really? That's almost laughable how different they are. Other than that... you better be sure what you are saying about military sales.... or face the wrath of drillsinger

Yeah, something smells fishy here. I'm not questioning the OP, but I do wonder if some of the MSP dealers aren't... "misinformed" (nicest way I could think of to say "blowing smoke" lol). This isn't the first time I've heard that MSP is only getting 2 allocations. The problem is, I think I've heard it from 3 different people. I'm no good at the whole "Math" thing but something sounds off.

I'm beginning to think that MSP may be getting the odd allocation trickle in but that perhaps the dealers are being warned not to broadcast the news too much in order to manage customer expectations

Lastly, @ bam1323, dude, where'd you manage to see a 1M on a dealer floor? I've been looking at just about every German dealer within range of Stuttgart and haven't seen one yet. The Niederlassung had one but it was sold and gone by the time I heard about it.

The 1M is at the Schweinfurt dealership. At least is was there 3 weeks ago when I was there.

I only know what my salesman told me. The reason for the switch for the 5 series to the 1M was this is my retirement vehicle and with the limited production, an investment. Thought it was about time I bought a car for ME.

No worries, I wasn't questioning what you told us, only what they told you

As for buying the 1M for yourself... hell yeah, if you've put your 20+ in then congrats and enjoy

bam1323 - I retired from the USN in 2004, and the 1M will be my daily driver! Good Luck!

My main concern was that I was told I got an allocation because I had my deposit in a long time ago. My SA told me that the other allocation went to someone else in Italy who had a deposit in at the start of the year as well. So who knows. Maybe I misunderstood?

Just hope others with deposits down weren't screwed over. Hell, there may not have been any others with deposits down.

Regardless, nothing aimed towards you. Just left over frustration from the whole process. But I can't complain now... in a little over a month I finally get my car!
