Grrr Hail Storm Damage!
For any of you in the NJ/NY area, you might be in my situation. Parked at the office (uncovered lot of course) the car gets hailed on by golf size balls. Immediately my heart sinks and I think the worse.
Sun comes out and yup, divets and dents all over the body (hood, roof, and trunk)! On hold with Geico to see what can be done. Pissed! Hope my premium doesn't go up. Does anyone know if that happens? Car is leased so I'm positive they'll charge me if I don't fix. |

do some research there was someone with the whole car damaged by hail, and the insurance company paid for the whole thing. .

I'm sorry to hear about that. Thank god I have a garage. This is one of my biggest fears right now along with vandalism. We've been getting alot of hail lately in Philly. We got some this evening.

Live in fear of hail. Need a good phone app that warns specifically of approaching hail and then could maybe have time to find a garage, gas station, bank overhang, etc. for some cover. Hail is tricky though, and seems to sometimes come on suddenly in what can appear like a standard t-storm.

One of very few nights my car was parked overnight in an open lot (I was in a hotel in charlotte NC) and good sized hail came down over night causing total of 3-4 small dents on my hood, roof and trunk
Not enough damage to warrant starting a 10K repair so I'm living with it. It seems that I'm the only one who can see the dents from far away. Now moving to Dallas and fear of hail is a daily thing there.

Coupla weeks ago...I went to the house for lunch...and was "that" close to grabbing the M on the way out and taking it back to work.
So glad I didn't. 15 minutes before I left for the day, storm comes out of nowhere and just starts dumping hail. My truck looks like a teenagers face. But at least it wasnt the M thankfully.

Sorry to hear about the damage. Hopefully Geico takes care of you with no added premiums!
My father decided to take out my E46 M3 last week since I've been out of town for the past several months. Turns out that was the day Chicago got hit by a nasty hail storm too. He admitted that the car now has 1 tiny dent on the hood

Insurance companies classify claims into two different general categories: (1) Collision, and (2) Comprehensive. Hail damage is a comprehensive claim and is considered an act of God. Acts of God will not raise your insurance rates.
I would suggest getting PDI (Paintless Dent Removal), I dont know how bad the dammage is so some parts may need to be replaced. |

THey're going to try and pdr the hood since that's the toughest. if they can't, they'll re-order and we're looking at 2 week fix. if pdr, then everything gets done by this week (<than 5 days after storm which is pretty nice).
check out the size of these dings! |

They most likely will be replacing the hood. It's extremely difficult to remove dents from aluminum.

Be afraid...be very afraid. Golf ball size hail is not fun (sorry to the OP), but we got grapefruit-size chunks in May. If it hadn't been for the drought this year, we'd expect that at least 3 or 4 times.
I hope you don't have to park outside much! On another note, where are you moving? Welcome to big D! |
