Count me in Rick!
I think I will go on one or maybe even both(!) of those trade days. When they let the general public in... there are just way too many people there to take pics of the cars (and female models!) properly. Dackel |

Roger that...as much as you shoot, you should try to get credentialed by a magazine or place in the states that wants to save $$ and hire locally....this way you get in free, get paid to shoot and have fun.

My father will be in town for this. Is it worth the extra € for 3 tickets to a Trade Day?

I have gone to the IAA more times than I can remember. I'd say five or six times - I think. FYI it is held every other year - held durring odd (numbered) years. When I have gone durring the week - when the corwds are less than on the weekends - it is wall to wall people. You can forget about trying to take pics of a car... bc everyone will be walking in front of your shot. AND... the Messe is HUGE. You will walk 5kms atleast durring a normal day. Many people take skate boards or those walking skooters to save their legs. Two years ago I could not believe how many people were trying to see the Ferrari 458 Italia and Porsche display areas. All I saw was the backs of peoples heads. This year I am going to try something new and pay extra for the "early" trade days. SHould be less people I think. The IAA is more than a car show. There are real cars you can drive in the garage and out back in teh parking lot. SUV's that you or someone will drive you on a special off road circuit. Tow trucks, trailers, auto clubs, model cars, toys, tools for sale, everything car realated is there! IF your over here you really ought to check this awesome event out. It will blow your mind away. I'm going. Dackel |

Sounds awesome! Too bad my dad's flight got switched around. He won't be here until Friday afternoon, so no "trade day" for us. Guess we'll just have to plan a week-day visit.
Should I buy tickets early or at the door? |

In the past, I have always bought my tickets at the door. I would enter the show around 10am and stay until 6pm. The IAA doesn't stay open too late in the evening.
You really need two or more days to see everything there is to see there. When you drive up the A5 into Frankfurt... they have a special "Messe Ausfahrt right on the autobahn! You park... then take a bus into the Messe. When you come back... you pay for the parking (8 euros I think) when you exit the parking area. |
