another CDV thread

I'm sorry for bringing this up again. I have searched and can't seem to find this. Is the CDV in the 1M the same as the other 1ers? Want to make sure I order the right one without having to ask the dealer any suspicious questions. Thanks.

I believe it is. When I searched, I used the term "CDV delete". Hope that helps. Also try searching in the other 1er forums...don't limit yourself to the 1M forum.

The CDV unit that is in the 1M is also the same part *number) as the one in the 135i.

Here is a list of all the other BMW's that use this same CDV. It would be well worth your time to get rid of the CDV. Do a search for "CDV Delete".

Thank you both. I read through that whole thread but couldn't find if the 1M used the same part. Thanks for the confirmation.

I beleive it is, going off of RealOEM's parts data base.

After you change out your CDV... you can post in that CDV delete DIY for "future" 1M owners.

I have to tell you that I am a firm believer in CDV delete. It made a big difference in my E46 BUT I have no issues whatsoever with the clutch on my 1M and will leave it alone. I know a few have done it but I think the one on our cars is quick enough and I love the clutch action as it is.

Not sure if you want to fix what might not be broke?

My favorite example is the guy that took off the suspension put coilovers on his car, then when they started to make some scraping noise he says "he is hating his car."

Good luck.

Just tap out the piece in your CDV that restricts the flow.

You do not need a new CDV. Just remove the flow restrictor as above and reinstall. Why waste $$$?

Tap the restrictor out. Do not drill it. Note that it must be punched out in a certain direction. Check the pics.

Also, remember to bleed the system afterwards by pumping the clutch about 40 times. You may need to add some brake fluid.
