Are bronze TE-37s "JDM"?
I have an A/W E90, and recently acquired a set of Volk TE-37 Time Attacks that I am having refinished. My friend and I were discussing colors, and I am *really* partial to a dark shade of bronze I've found. He said that bronze rims on a white car is a JDM style, and that I should get something different. Trying to get some opinions....

who cares. get what you want/like. i dig the bronze rim color on white, there are a few on here that have bronze wheels. a few even have mag blue te-37's. good choice on getting rid of the time attack finish.

I think they'll look great. And who cares what your friend says, get what you want.

It's a Japanese wheel, and bronze wheels are probably most popular in the Japanese car scene, so there is some logic to the statement.
With that said, I second the general consensus here. If you like the look, go for it.

TE37 is a Made in "Japan" and has a long history of applications on Japanese cars. But, I do not agree with the logic that the M3 is going to look JDM because of Bronze TE37. The TE37 is a great 1pc forged wheels with strength and quality attributes that is probably second to none. the Color Bronze and the Design is something that will have to agree with you personally. I am a big fan of the TE37.
TE37 is not just for JDM cars. Check out the porsche. |

Do it! Don't confine yourself to the realms of 'normality' everyone is individual with their own vision of what a nice car looks like. If you like it nothing else should matter. Just my .02 cents.

I'm actually curious as to how this mindset works with people. JDM has some of the highest quality/looking/weights when it comes to wheels, what's the problem? Many BBS, including the new RI-D are made in Japan, again - what's the problem? To OP, Bronze is an awesome colour on the TE37 ...forget what your friend says, do what you like.

The color Bronze comes from racing.
For example: You will find that most of the Porsche Cup cars running BBS wheels with bronze/gold centers. The JDM market is influenced more by the racing world. Get what you like the most. I think it is a good idea. I want also to refinish my bbs lm-r into a gold center finish. |

Thanks, fellas. Now here's where it gets kinda tricky....*lol* This is the bronze color I like:
And I'm thinking about pairing that color w/an anodized-looking blue finish on the lip, and having the chrome side grille insert finished in the same blue |

Personally I'd leave the bronze as is, I think it looks great. If you still want some kind of blue, maybe you can do a stud conversion and use some blue anodized lug nuts.

Personally, I've never liked the looks of the TE37 on the M. But regardless, get what wheel you like. It doesn't matter if it's considered "JDM" or not.
