If I wanted to approximate my car's horsepower...
Okay, kind of a random non-scientific question here.
First off, this is the first car I've modified. Secondly, the likelihood of me getting the car on a dyno is pretty small. I will ease into the question so you understand the context. I've spent a bit of time on bimmertech (PencilGeek's site) and I also understand that one E92 can vary from another by a substantial margin. And I'm not that interested in knowing *exactly* how much horsepower my specific car makes. Maybe that will change. So here's the question: I was at a Christmas party last night, and talking cars with some friends, and I shared that I had put some modified parts on my 2011 E92. So one guy says, "How much horsepower does it have now...?" And I wasn't sure what to say in terms of an approximation. So let's assume the car makes what BMW claims it does (414 @ 8300 rpm). (and I know, maybe it does, maybe it doesn't) And I've installed the following:
So if I wanted to approximate the horsepower over claimed stock horsepower, what should I say? Is there a way to reasonably estimate this?

So here's what Dinan list.......Exhaust= 6Hp.......Intake= 8HP..........Pulley= 11HP........Software= 9Hp......grand total for Dinan mods = 34HP. Now lets assume there is a error rate of 10%.....now you're at 30 HP. So I would agree with the above post and also call your overall total 440-445 crank HP..................Phil

Somewhat similar mods here...when people ask I say "about 450hp". The average person has no idea what wheel vs. crank HP actually means : )

I'm sure Dinan's dyno'd your set up, just ask them
some mods aren't additive, 10+15 = 22, some are more than addititve 10+15=28.

Asking Dinan is a good idea. Thanks for all the input, I think I'm essentially on track.
I've been saying "about 450 horsepower" as an estimate, but I wasn't sure if I was even close. I will say the more I get into this car the more the idea of getting it on a dyno is appealing. And then I start thinking about things like, "I wonder how I could take 200 lbs off the car without losing too much..."
