BMW Carbon mirrors on AW
I did just put on the BMW Performance carbon mirrors on my AW 1M! Must say they look excellent! Not taken any pictures yet but will in the weekend. At first I was a little skeptical as the white mirrors do look very good as is. But now when having the carbon on this is truly the way to go!
Next thing will be the BMW Performance carbon spoiler! Will get it tomorrow. Must say that carbon match the AW in a superb way! Also waiting for my Ind high gloss side markers. Seems lost by US postal services. Not sure why they use them. I would go for DHL or UPS. But I hope they will solve it or send me new really soon. |

I keep all original pieces so I can restore the car to factory OEM looks. I think everyone should and rather buy new part than to paint or change existing. ;-)

OK I will take using my phone. The care is a bit dirty as its snow "slush" outside and its cloudy so not perfect conditions but will give it a shot anyway.

I will not be able to do it until tomorrow as the car is to dirty for pictures. You can find some pictures of carbon mirrors under the carbon spoiler thread etc. I will post Sunday when I have washed the car. ;-)

Here are some pictures from my iPhone 4s. Not perfect conditions or camera but still give you an idea. The carbon mirrors look great IRL.

they look great! i'd love to see how they look in the greater gestalt of the whole car with wider shots. i have the overlays. did you go with the full replacements? i think i'll just be 3m'ing mine on, but i still can't decide if they look better with or without.

I did buy the BMW Performance covers. Very easy to change and you can as easily change back. On a white car I truly love the carbon over the white.

Two more pictures. They look excellent IRL and hard to see the "carbon look" in pictures. The look black when its bad weather or dark outside and more carbon/lighter when its sunny and in garage light. Love them!

They look great! The contrast is exactly what this car needs. I just hate how BMW prices these mirror replacements though. @ $700 seems that BMW is really out to take your money.

Aussie: Trust me Im a salesrep! ;-) Agree that both options do look great. I personally like the carbon mirrors more especially on the AW! Its all about the black and white contrasts. ;-)

You could always leave the original mirror caps to paint as a cheaper option. High gloss black paint would also look really good. If you are short on $$$$ or ££££ ;-) I will keep the original caps to be able to restore the whole care to factory config. Always good when selling as the next buyer might have other taste. ;-)
BTW. Sorry for the dirty car. Been snow "slush" in Sweden the last days. Terrible as the car gets dirty in like 2 seconds. |

Waiting for my ind side markers that are on the way. Next week BMW will fit the BMW Performance carbon spoiler. Then Im rather happy...
Yes hyper black or gun metal is very nice. You will need to send pictures when you are done. My own plan is to wait until I scratch the wheel and need a restoration. Then also change color at the same time. I do think the roof would look great in gloss black. Matte is not nice at all as the rest of the car is gloss. Not seen any pictures of black gloss roof but I think it would look stellar if done by a pro. |

The performance spoiler isn't a hard one to fit, an extra pair of hands come in handy but it's not hard to do and the oem spoiler comes off very easy, forget the goo I fitted mine with 3M VHB double sided tape with good affect.
Have been looking at a gloss black roof but would only go down the vinyl wrap path so an easy task to put back to stock...... |

How did you remove the OEM spoiler? Hairdryer and dental floss? Or any other suggestions? Im thinking of removing it and cleaning so BMW just fit the carbon spoiler. My garage is just semi insulated so not good enough for fitting at this part of the year. The guy at BMW have done it before and not very expensive so will let them do it.

Regarding the roof yes Im also thinking vinyl wrap in a high gloss black done by a pro. Seen a couple of 1M that have just wrapped the roof and not the "line" where you can mount luggage rails. Looks really strange as I think they also must be wrapped. Any issues wrapping the "luggage rail line"?
Also seen some matte roofs on AW 1M and looks "shady" as the rest of the car is gloss. |
