New member / just bought a 1M

Hi guys,

Just bought a Valencia Orange 1M, ex-BMW UK management. My first M car, though I've had Alpinas before, so I'm hardly new to the rapid BMW thing.

Look forward to getting to know you guys.

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Dude, Alpina neue klasse - that IS old school...

I had a B8 4.6 (E36 Touring) and the first customer B5 Touring. The 1M fits nicely between those two in terms of outright pace, though more like a sharper B8 coupe than anything (and much nicer creature comforts, of course!)

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your new 1M. So, your car is also one of the 450? I didn't know that there were still new 1Ms available in UK, maybe one of the last deliveries?

It's on about 2300 miles at the moment. And it looks exactly the same as every other V.O. 1M! The plate is in amongst the same batch as all the press cars (mine is about two characters away from the Top Gear car), so as you can imagine I checked all the publications imaginable to make sure it hadn't been a press car, before buying it. Nice spec, though - SatNav, DAB, H/K speakers, heated seats, folding mirrors, etc. I will get round to taking some pics though, although the weather's been so horrible lately, I think I'll wait for at least a little bit of sunshine.

No, it was first registered in April 2011, IIRC. Never said it was brand new! And yes, one of the 450, though I wish they'd gone to the trouble of doing proper numbered plaques! I remember when I picked up my last Alpina from the factory, they were terribly overexcited that an Englishman was picking up car "#007"! They don't get out much, down there...
