1M and car wash
Anyone took his 1M to the car wash ? (personally I didn't, yet).
OK, might sound rather offensive for those who consider a car wash a place of sacrilege and paint swirling. So, who dares to come out of the closet ? |

Same.
The company I work for has 2 wash stations for delivery trucks so I "rinse" as much road salt off as I can and blast the wheel wells with a pressure washer...I don't touch it with their dirty grimy truck brush though! So Touchless Carwash and more frequent rinsing. |

I do not wash it. Ever. Over 7 months, now. If I see a bird dropping, I like to use spit and my elbow.

The local Jiffy Lube has a drive through touchless wash that I use once every few weeks.
It has jets of water that blast the wheels when you drive in which is normally enough to wash off the brake dust. If not, I pull around to the stalls behind the building and scrub them with the bubble brush and then pressure washer. |

Ok, ok I admit it. I've been using a soft brush car wash since I bought the car. Here's the thing. My office is literally less than 2 miles from the dealership and they will do it for free whenever I go. There's a pre-rinse station that sprays the car down, wheel cleaner sprayed on at that time. Then the soft brush wash, then dryers then interior vacuums. I've just started going up there every Friday at lunch. I'm in and out in about 10 minutes and I usually just do it myself.
I'm sure its not great for the paint but the car looks nice and clean to me, and the price is right Ducking for cover now.. |

Nope!! Since 12 years, no carwash for my cars, only handwash! And i'm not really a freak of clean cars, so in Summer, I wash it once a month!!
Two weeks ago, i saw an Aston Martin DB9 entering a carwash, and some years ago a Ferrari F40, that's sick!! |

After my wife argued with me about washing the car in the garage, I looked up self service car wash, and there was none in my area...
I just came back from my detailer Tim. They also offer hand wash..., pretty quick, quality, and reasonable prices. In the winter I used to go to touch-less car wash with my other cars, and I tell you this, price/quality can't be compared even remotely. For a little bit more money, I get a quality wash. Endless Detail in Orange, CT... 15 mins away from me. But I am happy with their service. Check them out if anyone is local. Come summer I will be washing it myself, if I have time. Somehow they can do it 2 times faster than me doing it Last edited by -Z-; 01-28-2012 at 06:08 PM.. |

Hand wash nearby--early special only $6 and I can watch them. Was getting free ones for my GTI at the dealer until I saw the scratches...now it gets the hand wash too.

Washing.
Just picked mine up just over a week ago! Used the soft spray near my house to blow off the salt and road grime. Will only hand wash but spray off in between. When it's nice outside, I wash in the driveway once a week.

Only wash it at home. In fact almost always wash all of our cars at home, though sometimes the VW or Lexus I may take to a car wash.

Local touch less car wash stations in town leave a rainbow film on the high-gloss trim (damage in some cases) where the rainbow does not come off with furious finger rubbing.
Leaving fingers sore.... Hand wash only for best results. |

Anyone know how to get rid of the rainbow on the black trim around windows? And waterspots that don't seem to come off of windows?
Also, don't lift your hood with the windshield wipers up. I learned the hard way.... |
