What's a good price on Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires
First of all, thanks to everyone on 1addicts. After reading up on here I have decided to go with the Michelin PSS for my next set of tires, to replace the original Bridgestone run flats.
What's a good price to get them for? I have some miles left before needing to replace the current tires, so can take time to shop around. |

i've been shopping around locally (costco, wheel works) and online (tirerack) for a while and the current special that tirerack is running seems like a great price ($954 for a set of 4). i'm guessing shipping would be around $50+. with install that would put you a little over $1k.
that's not quite as good as the price i get from costco's website ($984) when you take into account the current $70 off promotion for 4 michelins, and the fact that their mount/install and warranty service are better than just about anywhere else. i can't remember the exact price of installation, but with everything added in i'd guess you'd come in just under $1k. YMMV with getting a local costco to install non run-flats, much less non run-flats in non spec size. (i've had quite a fiasco dealing with the 3 closest to me... if you do go the costco route i'd love to hear about how it goes.) the various chain tire shops (tires plus, wheel works, firestone) had promotions in january but it was pretty sketchy signing up and receiving the emails required for the promotional prices. i did get one for 10% off from wheel works, but it probably would come out to be very similar in price to the options above. good luck...! wish i could have gone with the PSS but they're a little bit out of my price range right now. ADDENDUM: btw, the tire sizes i used to calculate those prices were 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. tire rack shows the spec size of 215/40/18 and 245/35/18 as not being available until 2/10 and at a higher price. costco doesn't show the pilot super sport as available in those sizes at all. if they were to become available, then i'm guessing the costco price would be significantly cheaper than tire rack's. in addition, if they're willing to install non-RFTs, they won't complain about the size not being to spec. if you can wait a while, that might be your best bet. Whatever TR has is gonna be a great price. They're hard to beat and even if you do find a better price, you generally get hit on the shipping.
