Just bought a used set of rims - got a few questions
Hi Everyone,
Marrakesh brown 2012 135i w/ coral red interior and stock 17" wheels. I just bought the wheels that the previous owner had on the car before he traded it into the dealership where I bought the car from. The rims are Advan Racing RZ 19". Tires are Michelin pilot super sports. Two of the rims have a bit of curbage on them - but I took them to a wheel place today and it would be about $360 to fix assuming they can even match the paint. It's not "that" bad and I could probably at least touch them up myself. I think these are considered the dark gunmetal. My car is stored in a shared parking garage, so I'm going to put locking lug nuts on there just to try and deter somebody who doesn't know what they are doing from stealing the weels. Does anyone know the correct lug nut size I need? Does anyone know a good source for center caps for Advan wheels? The cheapest I have found so far was around $210. Thanks everyone, I can't wait to see these on the car in person. Seen them in pics but it's just not the same. |

$360 sounds like a lot of $ to only fix curbage on 2 wheels. I'm paying about the same to have 3 wheels fixed AND POWDERCOATED.

I just bought a set of gorilla locking lug bolts myself two weeks ago (model #47179NBC). If you are using the stock lug bolts, you need to look for the 12mm x 1.50 thread size and a thread length of 28mm.

I just thought of another question. Am I going to need to have a dealership recalibrate my speedometer going from 17's to 19's? |

I'm no expert, but I believe the speed will only read differently if you alter the overall circumference of the wheel+tire. You should google a tire calculator, and compare your old tire to the new ones. Most calculator sites will tell you the speed difference. I don't know what the options are if you need to re-calibrate it, sorry.
