Rubbing noise from wheel

There's a strange noise coming from one of my wheels, a little like the sound of a sweeping brush on concrete. I can only hear it when the car is moving slowly with the windows down and it's frequency keeps pace with the increase / decrease in speed.

What is it? Nothing obviously stuck in the arches or around the axles, car did have a service last week though.

Any thoughts?

I have had this off and on myself and it always seems to be the left front. The dealership cleaned the inside of the rotors and said there was some build up. It seemed to last for a bit and came back....same thing. I asked why this was happening and they of course were not sure.

I had the same thing last weekend, then it mysteriously went away. When I cleaned the offending wheel, I noticed it was dirtier than the others, as if some 'buildup' had been dispersed.

Check your undercarriage cover. Mine did the same thing and I looked down there and a piece of it was torn off towards the middle of the car, but it sounded like it was coming from the wheels. I cut that piece off and the noise went away.

The SA said he could hear the noise and thought it sounded 'metallic'. They've had the car all day and jut called to say they need it overnight. I wonder why?....

Glazing

Apparently it's something called 'glazing' which required the rotors to be cleaned down. BMW charged me AUD$242.00 for the privilege.

My car has done 15k since new, shouldn't the discs be more up to the job than that?

Thats pretty much what I got...and go back and forth through.Though I guess the wordings the germans used was not glazing but the same idea. I have no idea why this happens to only some vehicles and it seems only on the drivers front. I have had my car out for the 2nd day after winter and it was there yesterday but don't hear it today. Going to have the dealership check this again. Fortunatly in Germany they take care of this under warrenty...It will probably be an ass pain but I'm going to insist they fix it not just clean it for another 5k then its back....Good luck to me dealing with these german dealerships....
