I really can't confirm if they are plated or not. I just know that they're steel.

And by locking nuts, do you mean plugs for when they're not in use or...?

Stick a magnet on it, is it magnetic?

The nuts are to lock the fitting in place - usually you screw these into a female bung, but looking at the cat mods, you couldn't do it this way anyhow, as they would probably not be able to be screwed into place or they would hit each other.

Magnet is slightly attracted to them, but it won't stay on.

They didn't come with nuts. To mod the section 1, you would just drill a hole and weld the threaded portion of the bung into the pipe. Then the o2 bungs screw into the other end of the bung.
