Sad new...RIP
Whether you are a fan or not, it's hard not to respect the 911 and what it's done for sports car world. It's creator, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, has left this world. Left behind is a legacy which many still consider to be the perfect sport's car.

L to R: Piech, Ferdinand Porsche and Butzi. Man... sad day. I've always been a huge Porsche fan. I wonder if "Butzi" will be burried in Zell am See, along with Ferdinand and Ferry ? http://www.dw.de/dw/article/0,,15863175,00.html |

I'd venture to say that this man inspired more wet dreams in young men than all of the girlie
books on the planet combined. And I mean that in a totally complimentary, non-sexual way. R.I.P. |

My favorite quote of his, he got it as a designer: "A formally coherent product needs no decoration, it should be elevated through pure form"

Nice 993. I was a click (ebay) away from buying a '95 white w/ flaminco red interior 993 a couple months before I ended up with my 135i. The pursuit of the perfect 993 was relentless and tiresome. They are the best 911 IMO. RIP Ferdnand.

Porsche will be missed. I am lucky to have a dad that was very closely tied to Porsche in the U.S. for over 30 years and have been fortunate enough to have been behind the wheel of many, many great Porsches. His legacy will not soon be forgotten.

This truly is a sad day.
I fell in love with Porsches as a kid. My dad had a 1977 911 Turbo-Carrera and a 1960 356 Convertable. As an adult, I had a 1966 912...yes, it only had the Super 90 flat-4, but nothing I've owned since, including my 135i, was as fun to drive...not to mention, those early 901 bodies were such a beautiful car! |

Thank you for the compliments.
Our 1 series is nothing to sneeze at either. Here are a few more shots. Best Regards,

I like the 911, and Porsche in general. It is an iconic automobile and brand.
Porsche has made amazing technological strides in taming a "poor" drive train configuration. By sticking with that drive train layout Porsche have had to make everything else work as best as it could so that their cars would stay on the road, and further to win in racing. That hard work and excellent engineering has made them auto tech icons. If I bought a Porsche it would be a Cayman or Boxster, or an AWD version of a 911. I love some of their older designs though. I once almost bought a '69 911, loved the look of that model. Also, any 911 I would get has to have stability control due to the nature of rear drive/rear engine layout. Cheers Mr. Por-sche. It's a 2 syllable pronunciation. I'm not a fan of the "Poorsh" pronunciation. It's not how his name is pronounced. Last edited by RPM90; 04-09-2012 at 05:02 PM.. |
