DTM Brands Hatch 20th May
I am planning on watching some V8 race action, and with BMW Motorsport back into full swing with a 1st & 3rd podium finishes at last weekends Lausitzring round and Brands just around the corner, is there any 1M owners who will be attending?
DTM is back at Brands Hatch this May! The prestigious German touring car series has been a fixture at the Kent circuit since 2006, with major manufacturer participation from Audi and Mercedes. The cars are phenomenally quick and they lap around 7 seconds faster than a British Touring Car at Brands Hatch, averaging 104mph. Racing on the 'bullring' Indy circuit, fans can see all of the action, including lightning-quick pitstops. DTM is embarking on a new era in 2012, with new cars and the addition of a third manufacturer, BMW. Triple WTCC champion Andy Priaulx joins reigning DTM champ Martin Tomczyk and 2011 runner-up Bruno Spengler in BMW's line-up. Meanwhile, 2005 DTM champion and McLaren F1 test driver Gary Paffett heads up the Mercedes-Benz squad and leads the standings heading into his home round with fellow Mercedes driver Jamie Green close behind. The field also includes former F1 winners Ralf Schumacher and BBC F1 commentator David Coulthard. The action is backed up by a fantastic support bill, with the VW Scirocco R-Cup featuring a superb driver line-up, including Damon Hill, Mark Blundell, Martin Donnelly, Julian Bailey, Perry McCarthy and David Brabham. The F3 Euro Series, spectacular NASCAR Euro Racecar Series, Formula Ford, VW Racing Cup, Lotus Cup UK and Elise Trophy will also be appearing. Anyways, it's 32 and sunny here mate, I have moved the entire contents of my office and ran an extension cord to run my computer outside to soak up some much needed rays while I work |

We have a lunch break of sorts but it's very short usually. Plus it's an FIA Chief Medic so might run things differently to normal boss.
May get up to the Kentagon or up and down pit lane. Tbh as is it's a big event with cameras its hard to sneak off. Not helped by the bright red suit I'll be wearing! More likely at end of racing or on fri/sat. |

Yeah it'd be a long shot I'm afraid!
Busy and long day. There will probably be some extrication training at some point. Last time I observed them trying to pull someone out of Cathrine Leggs Audi DTM. Hoping this year one of the BMW teams will allow us to use their cars. Means will be able to get right into the garages and crawl around the cars! Great photo op! |

Been a long time since I have done any extrication training, mind you it was on military helos and road going vehicles and not race cars lol but still remember being a test mule for a new extrication stretcher device thingy and being strapped in for what felt like hours in the most uncomfortable position while I was a 'medivac' in a seahawk helo on an hour flight, first and last time I was a test crash dummy lol
Anyways, there is a lot of racing packed into the Sunday, makes BTCC look like a clubman event...... |

I had someone practice a rapid takedown for ?C-spine injury on me the other week very weird.
And yup those spinal boards are not built for comfort. Those old gen DTMs were absolute works of art. They have a 30cm hatch in the roof to slide the ked through, pop the drivers head out briefly then slide the driver out of the side door/hatch. The DTM cars themselves they make the BTCC cars look like 10 year old Vectras and cheap Seats shopping trolleys... As for racing, it's pretty much the biggest event for Brands, definitely biggest names involved. I'm secretly trying to work out a way to get my car signed by Andy Prialux or someone sumhow . Maybe under the bonnet?! Or get him to sign the drivers manual. Might be easier. What u reckon? |

Ah the 1M supplement manual, that is a thought, might bring mine along, you never know You could unbolt your bonnet and carry it around on your back, look like some sort of weird looking turtle wearing a red jumpsuit and a black bonnet on your back, not sure how you will get into the doctors car though, that could be more of a challenge than having Prialux sign your car |
