NEW UPDATE: So after talking with a trusted friend, I decided to give the AFE intake another shot. He said it does it job of providing more airflow and power. I reinstalled the intake, being more picky this time around. At the same time, I changed my HFC to catless. With this setup, I averaged about 10 RWHP gain and 5 RWTQ gain (half that if you compared to two dynos ago). The peak gain was 12 RWHP and 6 RWTQ. So I am happy to say that the AFE intake does at least add more power. On a side note, I like catless way more I have posted my new dynos below! Summary: 354 RWHP and 266RWTQ.

Old Update: Just ran a dyno today measuring the gains with the aFe Stage 2 intake. There was an increase of 5 degrees Fahrenheit from 85 to 90. The result was a LOSS of 6 rwhp 5 rwtq STD compared to the previous dyno. I will post the print out I have later tonight.

I thought I would post a couple numbers from my dynos. The first one involves everything stock with the exception of the AA catback. The second one includes the addition of their HFC x-pipe. These dynos were done at EAS.

I decided I would take some dynos of each new part I installed just for my own curiosity. And then I thought, why not share them!!

First Impressions:
When I got the catback I wanted something that would make the car sound MUCH better. With no knowledge at all about this forum or anything really, I choose AA because of sound clips and the fact that I could install it myself. I found out after that all of them can be DYI, but I still love the sound. Not too loud and gives a nice roar. I proceeded to get the HFC to improve the sound and increase the power. I choose AA because their customer service was amazing and I already had the other half. I still love the sound and it is perfect!

My "baseline" dyno came out to 336 rwhp / 253 rwtq SAE. This is with the catback. From there I did one adding the x-pipe, which came out to 347 rwhp / 263 rwtq. If you take a look their was an increase in ambiant temperature as well, about 12 degrees F. I tried to make it the same but different days and schedule :/

Next I just installed the AFE stage two intake (the $470 one) and it sounds great. At low RPM it is more or less the same as stock but at WOT and high RPM you can really hear it, so overall I am happy . I read a lot about AFE losing power, but I am going to get another dyno with the next week or two to see.

I will update this thread with the new numbers and when I get my Velos Tuning Software which I will install after I get the intake numbers

Below I attached the dyno printouts:

Nice that it is trending in the correct direction! : )

Is the AFE stage 2 the one that is open to the engine bay?

I have this intake...my car runs like a raped ape with my mods. I will have it dyno'd as well with my mods and compare it to OEM. My mods have been on the car for almost a year. Plenty of adaption..

You should really look into the Proceed with meth. My cars feels the same in 90 degree weather as it does in 60 degree weather. Do a search, i dynoed at EAS also.

No one seems to be listening TMR. Other than you, who else runs the Procede + meth in a non-supercharged M3? Let it our little secret.

Intakes don't do good on these cars, nothing like a drop in filter and stock box.

The intake box is very good.

Filtering media, intact tract can use improvements, which is where gains have been seen.

My car with the AFE intake pretty much made identical power to the MS intake. So I would say both are good products, although the intake isn't really the 'power gainer' on this car. Stock one is quite good.

Why is it my numbers seem so high on the same dyno with just a catback and Vishnu proceed and meth? Look at the tq numbers.

The meth allows ignition timing to be increased, even on a very high compression motor, and that results in solid power gains across the rpm range. You will be getting about twice the gains of a tune alone.

The dyno is not as comparable to other dynos because it is uncorrected and people typically report in STD or SAE, which can vary from uncorrected by as much as about 4%. With weather data, the common SAE result can be computed -- get the run files and it can be done automatically.

I added a std dyno sheet showing what my car did with high flow exhaust and proceed with meth.

Oh trust me.. I'm listening.. Going to be pulling the trigger within the next couple of weeks on a Vishnu kit. 400whp on a stock M3 is insane.
