What should I do next for performance?
I've got a 2008 135i with a few things done to it and I've been wondering what the next step will be. My 45k mile service is coming up soon.
Things I have:
Things I was thinking of getting:
So what do you guys recommend next? Intercooler and finishing off the exhaust was my plan then doing the 15 OHM mod to the JB4 and making a custom tune in the custom tune slot. Am I missing any import steps? At what point do I need to start worrying about blowing something up or the clutch slipping? Thanks! P.S. Will they do the 45k mile service with all of my mods there? |

Intercooler.
Will do your oil change and stuff, but if anything was wrong with the car they won't fix it under warranty. Usually depends on your dealer, but I have never had luck with aftermarket parts and getting the dealer to fix something engine wise. |

FMIC, your car will run better, especially in the summer months. Coils would be a solid purchase as well.

I talked to Terry from BMS and power wise he recommends I do the 15ohm mod and start sending him logs to see what my car is doing... so I might actually do that tomorrow. Stupid question time: If I have the sports package with the seats and M shifter and steering wheel and stuff, do I have the sports suspension? Or is the sports suspension = BMW performance suspension? Last edited by grunyon; 06-29-2012 at 12:51 AM.. |

The Performance Anything(Suspension, Exhaust, etc) is an "aftermarket" BMW kit that is not installed at the factory. The sports suspension is just the normal 135i suspension as far as I know.

i would not start adding more aggressive tuning without a FMIC, meth or not. i would suggest keeping your stock suspension if you are happy with its performance and ride quality. everything short of the bmw performance suspension kit, outside of motons or higher end tck / ast, will cause a significant degredation of ride quality at the expense of being lower, and in some cases no handling gains. i have the performance suspension with m3 front control arm kit and the change was worth it to me for the minute drop, but mainly the vast improvement in steering feel and handling. i thought the stock suspension setup sucked though, so for me it was a worthwhile upgrade.

FMIC then 15ohm board then axle back. Exhaust isn't going to be worth a lot of HP so do the stuff that will be good for power first and then worry about sound.
Suspension is not worth it unless you track the car weekly. The stock 135i suspension is pretty damn good and you'll enjoy the power a lot more than a set of coilovers. |

you have the "m sport" suspension, but not the "performance" suspension, which is an option item. You're probably better off that way, as it makes parting with your current suspension bits a little easier to swallow.

oil cooler!
Will it help performance ... not daily, but it sure will help at the track as opposed to running in limp mode.
