Rant About Dealership

So, I had some work done recently to install my Alpine hifi.

I must say I'm very disappointed with the level of work this dealership provided - first they stuffed up the install (speaker didn't work) and I had to wait a week to bring it back before they found the loose connection.

Then I also found a number of these on the door trim:

Looks like they let wolverine loose in my car (that or they're using screw drivers to remove the trim).

I've sent a scathing email to them so let's see what they respond with.

Unacceptable. I'd go to see the principle in person and get the trim replaced with new.

Spoke to them this morning and they apologised and told me to bring the car in next Thursday to fix it...

But just after I got off the phone, I also found out that my passenger door handle doesn't work either, seriously pissed off

damaging stuff? well that's not okay

breaking/not reinstating stuff? extra not okay

last service i had (non dealership) my rear vision mirror stopped tinting

i can't exactly pin it on the service as it is a breakable item in general, but i'm pretty damn sure of it..

Thats seriously stuffed up, and another good reason to do it yourself. They WILL fix it for you though, else go straight to BMW Aus.

flinchy, are you talking about your left side mirror not dipping in reverse? Just change your mirror "selector" to the right side and leave it there an it will work.

I put an Alpine in my Wife's M3 last month & didn't make a mark on anything, everything worked perfect first time (including coding) - did they do that? You need to verify.

I have no idea how you could have a connection issue, it's plug & play for the new cars. The biggest issue is where your marks are (seems low down), I removed those floor panels by hand! The hard part is reinstalling them, you don't need a hammer or chisel for it either, just align the clips.

Coding is not just code to CIC ECU AUDIO_SYSTEM_CIC to "hifi" - that works to an extent, if you change VO to $676 for the car, you'll see that HFP_AUDIO_PROFILE changes to "profile_4", makes another difference again. Check what they did there as well ( I assume you have a pretty new car with CIC).

I have no idea what tools they used, but those marks look like screw driver marks!

BTW, what Brisbane dealer was this?

hahaha no i googled that problem a while ago (re:early this year the first time it happened lol) .. my rear (center) view mirror has that factory auto-dip option (no mechanical) that tints it automatically when there's light behind.. it no longer does that, not cool.

ED: yeah i meant tinting not tilting.. auto-dip more accurately

Might be owned by the same crowd but world apart in quality of service and level of satisfaction. At least for me this is the case. I have to pass Brisbane to get to Westside but I happily travel for their service.

Yeah well they operate separately but same ownership (Roller family). I actually bought my car from Westside but opted for Brisbane BMW due to proximity (big mistake in hindsight of course!!!).

Anyway I dropped my car off this morning, so hopefully they'll fix everything this time (3rd time lucky?). Also asked them to check everything on the job incl. coding part because I don't want to go back again!!

The 320d convertible they loaned me today drives like a brick, should've taken the Cooper S

Interesting...

I've bought BMW's from Motorline and Westside and have had both serviced by Brisbane BMW...

I will never return to Westside again - and in all the surveys they have sent me I have been far from forgiving in my assessment of how poor they operate.

Motorline and Brisbane have been exceptional from a service point of view - can't fault.

I had my M3 in for a PPI at Westside and was very dissapointed with it. They didn't pick up on common and obvious things like a visible oil leak, washer fluid leak, broken auto dim etc.

Car is going in for another inspection at Brisbane BMW next week. I can only hope they don't let an appy do it this time!

You got sent a survey? I've never seen a survey request in all the time I've had BMWs.

I really dislike the fact that I can't speak to a real mechanic & have to speak with someone who often has no idea how a car works. Or doesn't work.

I've never seen a survey either... although the dealer told me I'd be getting one and he wanted me to could give him perfect scores lol.

Anyway I got my car back. They sanded the marks down and now you can't tell it's there unless you look for it (which I do since I know it's there). I'd tell them to replace it with new but I honestly cbf complaining anymore.

I guess they're ok for service (been there many times before) but I'm not getting anything installed here again.

As far as mods go I think this is the only dealer installed one on my list anyway
