Wowsers, wonder if he had it tested or just guesstimated and rounded down to the nearest second...

4 flat is slightly optimistic, but possible. A stage 2+ DSG one can run into the 12s.
This stage 2+ S3 (same mechanical package as Golf R) did 4.5 to 100 and 12.7 quarter while it was having issues with the tune. I had a manual stage 2+ S3 and wish I had taken it down the quarter, but the clutch was starting to slip by the time I got rid of it. |

one VW forum guys had a R36 tuned engine + turbo(s?) in a R and he didnt do 4. Heck of a car tho. The launch in any of these DSG tuned R would be quick and all good rides nonetheless. |

My WRX does 3 flat on the way to a 1.58 60 foot and 11.0@125MPH. A flat 4.0 0-100 would not take much if you got a good launch in a AWD car with around 400hp and reasonable weight (13-1400kg). Don't the new GTRs do 2.8?

From memory he got mid-low 4s with just a Stg1 ECU tune. At the time, he was as surprised as anyone to get such an impressive figure. I haven't read his thread for ages, but if we take that comment at face value, then a full exhaust and complementary mods should result in something around the claimed time. I'd still like to see it with my own eyes though. |

Variables are too large though if you don't use the Performance Box at a drag strip. I wouldn't put a great amount of faith in the results unless it was done at a drag strip

low 4s is pretty standard for these Golf Rs, I've been tuning them for a while and they get great results...
trap speeds on the qtr mile aren't as high as say an N54 which is inline with their lower KW count but AWD + DSG + Launch control is very conducive to fast 0-100 times. BMR has a Golf R project car in the works too, might bring it to the drags next week |

tune only Golf R will do 0-100 in high 4s if DSG... i.e. 4.9s Yeh I don't think I'll have all mods finished by Aug 8th, but Aug 15th should be just about there! |

I was actually in the market for a Golf R until I started reading VW Watercooled and they kept referring to the 135i as being the superior car. I'm now in the market for a manual 135i instead
