Memory stick

Just picked up one of these suckers for $21.50 off ebay
64 GB!

Ive been using small sticks, 2-4GB to transfer music onto the internal HD
which works ok, but is extremely time consuming going back & forth.
And every time you load a new stick, it creates a new folder (USB1, USB2,USB3 etc)
This sucks as it doesn't random shuffle between folders.
i can deal with that if the folder had more songs in it...hence the search for a bigger memory device.
i was actually looking for a cheap SSD, but for 20 bucks, ill give that a crack first!

Isn't the hard drive only like 16gb? Or is the newer one a lot bigger?

Be careful with some of these from eBay. I bought a 16GB stick off ebay some years ago. Plugged it into my pc & it said I had 15.xGB available. Unable to load more than 1GB onto it though. I got my money back via PayPal.
See if you can load it with 60GB of stuff resistor & get back to us.

i thought it was 80? ....maybe im wrong. 16GB is pretty tiny.
ive jammed quite a bit on there so far and haven't hit a limit.
is there a "remaining storage" option in the i-drive?

had a look, and it seems the the capacity is a lot less than i originally thought.
no idea why i thought it was 80GB.
Its only 12GB.

I find this a bit strange then, as ive loaded 5 x 2 - 4 GB (i used a few different ones) sticks of music on the drive so far and its only half full.
that would be at a minimum 10GB transferred so far.
I noticed that in the manual it says the drive converts the music into a different format that can only be played in the car.
i'm curious as to what this format is, and what bit rate it uses.
i haven't noticed any drop in sound quality (all my tracks are 320's)
