No S6 mode in 2013??

Hey fellow-M3'ers! I've just traded in a 2009 E92 for a 2013 one, and I am seeing some changes in Drivelogic. First, "DSC Off" mode is missing (the button is the only way to disable DSC), and secondly, I can't access the S6 mode. Am I missing something?

I'm assuming that you know S6 is only selectable with DSC completely off. That being said, I seem to recall S6 and LC not being available till after the 1200mi (2000km) service. I'm not 100% sure about that last bit of info, but someone will definitely confirm or deny it.

Of course I know that DSC has to be off. S6 not being available till after 1200mi service makes a lot of sense. I already forgot how it was with my previous M3, but now that you've mentioned it, I think I remember that it was the case. Thanks for a quick reply!

DSC can be switched off in 2 ways. First is obviously by pressing the DSC off button. Second is to programme it under the DSC setting within the M Drive menu in iDrive, so that when you press the M button on the steering wheel, DSC will be switched off. Pressing the M button will obviously also bring up all the other pre-programmed M Drive settings.

S6 is only available when DSC is off. This has never changed throughout all the model years.

In short, read the manual!

Don't think you can program DSC to turn off when you press the M button. Somebody confirm please.

Correct, sort of. To be more specific, S6 and launch control become available at approximately 1250 miles on the odometer. It has nothing to do with actually getting the service. There is not anything the dealer does to the software, it just happens at around 1250.

Well, I for one can confirm this. I do it when I'm on a track, as it saves me from having to press any other button apart from the M button. Perhaps it may be different for Canadian/N. American cars.

It depends. It use to be in the the M settings menu, then it was removed. Mine was added back in via code. Where it stands now, I dont know, but Im willing to be you have to have it coded back in.

Right, so it's an American thing I guess. As far as I can tell, from the various EU M cars I have seen and driven, DSC-off can be programmed in M Drive.

I have a 2008 E90 with no coding or tune and my M button takes me directly to my own full race settings, with DSC off completely!!!!

The DSC off feature has to be recoded in on the newer cars.

I have 2011.75 so I'm guessing I need this coding done to have DSC turn off when I press the M button? Thanks..

No DSC Off with the push of the M Button? Pathetic.

+1. My 2011.5 e93 cannot have DSC off programmed on the button while my friends with pre-2010 M3's both can.

It can be recoded to allow it to.

When did you get delivery? Yours is the first I've heard of being released after the CARB clearance.

2011.5 on this end and it is indeed programmable. I think it changed with 2012 models. See quick "crackberry" photo............Phil

Yep, this is what I have. No "DSC Off" option like I used to have on my 2009. Will wait until 1200 mi, and if it doesn't appear (along with S6), take the reprogramming route.
