Old Pacific Highway Cruise tonight

Good evening all,

It's time for a cruise up the Old Pacific Hwy from Berowra up to around Gosford and back.

I'm pretty sure all of you know this route pretty well - it's good.

Standard forum rules apply; obviously no hooning or driving like a dickhead especially if you're repping the forum. Cops are also patrolling the OP more frequently atm so if you do drive like a cock you probably will get busted.

Anyway I hope to see as many of you at the pre-meet at Waitara McDonald's at 7:30pm for an 8pm departure.

Drop me an SMS on 0403858259 if your coming

Love that drive, and the closest I come to a race track. Never would have thought about doing it at night though

Been planning a mid week morning run now the weather has been a bit clearer. Less boys in blue mid week as well

Ahh I wish I'd seen this yesterday! I love driving on the Old Pacific Highway.
Maybe another time...

I'd be interested in doing a mid-week early morning run.

Less traffic, less patrols....

Definitely keep me posted if anyone wants to arrange one of those.

Hope you guys had fun - I was up there yesterday on the bike, and there was all kinds of junk on the road from the winds, and the usual representation from the local "officials".

Saw a silver 135 with "addicts" plate holder, parked at "Pie" as i was leaving about 4pm.

As others have said, due to relatively recent unfortunate "happenings", the area is getting a fair bit of attention. As a relative regular, with the weather coming good, the "knee draggers" are emerging for the summer. So be careful - while some of them are very good, others aren't as good as they think they are - and routinely end up on the wrong side of the stripes.

In the "frightening but funny after the event" catagory, a few weeks ago, I was coming up from the Brooklyn bridge, heading south. About half way up, there's a left-hander that you can't see around very well, two lanes on my side, one lane on the other side - I'm in the right lane of the two on my side, having passed a car in time to set up for the corner. As usual, I'm scanning for leaf-litter, sticks, road kill, other riders, cars --- but not skateboarders. And there they were - 3 of them, ripping down the hill, one of them all crossed up, and one heading my way - perfectly timed it, just as I tipped the bike into the corner at about 80kph.

In the end it was not that close - we missed by about 10ft - but that was pure luck. Nearest thing to a "brown-trouser" moment I've had in a while.

These nutters had a BMW running interference at the rear, but nothing ahead of them - not so bright!!!

I can laugh about it now, but I have to admit I wasn't seeing the funny side of it on the day.

Moral of the story - expect the unexpected...... apparently these fools are becoming more regular up there

Yikes, it sure seems like it. Those guys must have a death wish.

Slight OT... but I took advantage of the stunning weather yesterday first thing in the morning to do a nice long loop from the north shore up past Wollombi and Broke on Broke Rd, then across to Putty Rd and down again. There was a Shannons-sponsored classic car fair/event in Broke that meant some very interesting wheels in the area at my half-way point, but I didn't stop to check it out in detail.

By some unbelievable stupidity in my life, up til this point, I don't believe I've ever driven Putty Rd. Good Lord, that's some top fun - but I did take notice that those delightful long straights are also tailor-made to be pinched so I was doing my best to behave. There's still plenty of fun to be had around all the sweeping corners, and particularly as I was heading back into Sydney nearly by myself while tonnes of weekenders were just starting on their way out. I didn't get significantly stuck behind anyone for my whole 4-5 hour loop - a gift.

This past few months I've really put some weekend clicks on my 1'er with RNP a few times, the Gong, Bells Line of Road twice, this Broke Rd/Putty Rdloop, another shot up through to Brooklyn, Palm Beach twice, Narabeen Lakes a few times...

I swear I'm absolutely in love with the N54! I know I'm a bit late to the party compared to you lot, but damn it if I'm not going to try my best to catch up.

There were 2 fools that were fanging it and doing donuts out of this one street near the bridge. I'm not too sure what street it was!

Other than that we had a great time

What blows me away on that run is the early morning cyclists. To each there own - but knowing the amount of Bikes and Cars who tend to open the throttle on that stretch - this is one place you would never catch me on a push bike.

Some of those corners are very blind - and there is nothing worse than rounding one to encounter two guys - side by side - plodding along on their pushies.

I have seen way too many people riding litre bikes knee down across the centreline to drive on that road.

Not to mention running the highest possible risk of a P plater in the group rear ending you with all the excitement.

Yes Sir! And they're everywhere these last few weekends because the weather's getting better.

They really are a PITA, and seldom as good as they think they are.
