OT - Stroud Rodeo & Campdraft competition
I thought I share some of my photos taken from the events yesterday, held in a small town Stroud, outside Newcastle. Watching these cowboys doing their things made me think my car suspension is very comfortable indeed.

No campdrafting photos? Great action shots!

Love the last shot, did you use a VR zoom lens?

Thanks mate. All the photos were shot with Canon EF70-200 F/2.8L II IS USM lens, mounted on my EOS7D, shot handheld. The settings was between F2.8 - F3.5 and ISO between 400-640. I was aiming for shutter speed of at least 1/1250sec ans maintaining the shallow depth of field.
The IS on Canon is the same as VR on Nikon. |

Those are the scrappiest campdrafters I've ever seen! Great photos, really captures the sense of action.

It was my first ever rodeo event and had to idea what to expectt. I only went because a photog buddy of mine asked me to come along. The campdrafting was pretty actionless. Bull-rider was much more better to photograph. |

Great pics, the shallow DOF really makes the images pop out... they almost look a little HDR'y...
Running at f2.8, 1/1250 did you run a filter for some of the brighter parts of the day? i shoot a lot of cycling, and generally have to wind it back to f4, so i still get good background blur, but you get 1/2 deep in the peloton.

They look good, explains why the colours don't look washed out, i was wondering wether you went polarised, or saturated after.
