Looks great John, FMJ is excellent. Thanks for putting me onto it as well.
It's probably even more important on a black car, makes keeping it clean so much easier.

Washing the car is a quick process now with it on.

Fantastic detailing John. I totally agree why you chose FI.
I drove my RS4 down to Melbourne just to get the FI treatment when I bought the car back in 2007.

Cool, there's some interesting technology in paint care nowadays.
Vader looks awesome by the way.

I have opticoat on mine and am pretty impressed.
I get a pretty good shine just by using quick detailer or spray wax while drying the car after a wash.
Don't have any good pics but this is just after a normal wash.

Full metal jacket is a super hydrophobic polymer that can last upto 5 years according to http://shop.finalinspection.com.au/p...roducts_id/225

its called full metal jacket because it coats plastics and glass also see video in link above on plastic.

they are great photos alpine

the problem with these 'sealants' and plastic coverings is what do you do when you get tar/rubber stuck on the surface? All the ones I have read say to NOT use clay bar or other polish type products as they remove the protectant layers/scratch the plastic. wouldn't it be easier to just get a clay bar and some polish cream and polish every couple of months?

'Full Metal Jacket' Paint Protection by Final Inspection.
Paint Protection is any form of protecting your paintwork with wax, usually synthetic, against environmental damage caused by debris and weather etc. in the day to day usage of your vehicle. The term Paint Protection is generally adopted for services caried out that yeild prolonged protection.
Most Paint Protection services consist of applying a durable layer of Sealant (Synthetic Wax) to the vehicles painted surfaces. Some Sealants are more durable than others.
The longevity of any Sealant rests heavily on what type of sealant it is, butmore importantly, how it is applied or rather the amount and process of preparation before applying the Sealant.
The Preparation must be carried out professionally, and this is acheived with one of our polishing services included in any Exterior Detail. All paint condition (even new cars) must be prepared to enable the Sealant to adhere properly to the paints surface.

The illustration above shows scratches in the paints surface and how polishing repairs a painted surface and how the polished surface reflects light better creating a cosmetic benefit. This also allows for proper adhesion of any Wax or Sealant.

The illustration above shows the polished surface protected with a layer of Sealant and this layerlocking / deflecting UV rays (blue) and guarding against contamination such as industrial fallout, raildust, watermarking etc.
Our Sealant has three main ingredients:
  • Synthetic Isoparaffinic Solvent
  • Synthetic Isoparaffinic Hydrocarbons
  • Perfluorinated Polymer
It is the Perfluorinated Polymer that is responsible for the durability of the protective film.
