Vibration on the clutch pedal

Hi,

i had issues with a squeeking noize by pushing the clutch pedal. The dealer changed the clutch and some other things. The squeeking is gone, but i now have really annoying vibrations on the clutch pedal in higher revs above 3.500rpm, when i push the clutch.

I talked to the dealer regarding this issue and he said, that he drove two 1M's back to back and it's normal. Nothing to worry about.

Can someone confirm that he has also vibration on the pedal in higher revs?

Thanks guys

It's most definitely NOT normal.

How many miles on your car and how hard are you on the clutch?

I believe this has to do with it being a dual-mass flywheel. I had a similar feeling in my old MINI which had a DM FW too. I can feel it slightly in the 1M but not nearly as much as the MINI.

Thanks for the feedback.
I told my dealer to give me the partnumbers for the replacements. I want to check if the used the correct parts.

@RimasRS

Will do. I will try to get also a second opinion from someone who drives an 1M.

@flzrider

The problem occured after they repaired the squeeking. Wasn't that extreme before.

Another strange thing i felt today. There is a metalic scratch by letting go the clutch pedal when the motor is running without a gear. That's what i do, if i have to wait at a red light.
Is that normal?

It started to behave like that after a few thousand kilometres.

+1. Drive the car a bit to see if it goes away.

How maile kms since the new clutch? Did they also replace the flywheel. IF not I would take it back and ask for a complete new clutch job. New flywheel, pressure plate, disc, release bearing and rear main seal. The rear main seals have been known to leak AND or cause a squeaking noise(also sounds like a cricket) but only when the engine is hot(after say an hour or driving) and the revs falling from 2K rpms.

Also... once they replace your clutch... take it easy for awhile... and don't slip the clutch and don't go WOT. No power shifts and be gentle at first, say for 1K kms. G.L.

This is normal. At least my car does that to some extent.

@Dackelone

Thank you very much. What you descriped was exactly the noize i had. And the dealer said it's the release bearing.

I asked if i have be careful at the beginning after they changed the clutch etc. He told me that i don't have to take it slow.

So, i did WOT a couple of the times today on the autobahn for a short distance to overtake.

Will drive some more km's to see if everything goes away.

Mine started squeeking rigt after delivery and I finally had it looked at during the annual oil change. They told my they could not fix it by lubing the pivot points on the clutch assmebly and then told me they wanted to replace the clutch. Once they got it in last week they ended up replacing the clutch pedal assembly and apparently it was a bear to remove. So far with about 200 miles no squeeking but the tech noted on the service that the locking pin for the clutch master was stuck in the slot. The had to put in a new pedal with new pivot bushings. No flywheel chatter or squeeking. Sounds like the flywheel on your to me?

I don't know IF this will help you or not, but maybe. When I rev up the engine when the shifter is in neutral I took my foot off the clutch. So you might hear when I was talking about. But its hard to hear in this video. I think I need to make another video of the rattling noise for you. Btw... I have a Perf SSK so that is why the throws are so short.

Mine is fine except that when the wipers are running and I am depressing the clutch, I feel thumps from the wiper motor going through it. It's pretty weird but not a showstopper.

The last two days i played around with the clutch pedal at the traffic signs. If i wait a little longer before releasing the clutch pedal without a gear, i don't have the metallic scratch. Could that also be the flywheel which is still spinning?

Thanks guys.
