Does anyone have a 3D printer?
Hi guys,
I was thinking... if anyone has a 3d Printer we could make our own dash kit for a stereo instal. i suppose there are online 3d printers too...

I don't have one, but we've been thinking about buying one at work, the finish isn't as good as you might think unless you're using one of the really expensive printers, then the materials get expensive too. By really expensive I'm talking into the hundreds of thousands to buy. Online places will likely be a good option, try quickparts, we've used them in the past with good results, plus you can upload your cad files and get instant quotes

We have a few at work, but to be honest I wouldn't trust a printed part as a permanent fixture in our cars. Not only do the printed parts take a lot of post work prep (sanding, filing, cleaning, etc.) to make them look decent, but they are pretty fragile compared to molded or injected plastic parts. If anything I'd only use a 3D printer to make mock ups to use as a guide to create the injection mold tool to make real pieces.
